MSU is too damn good on defense, suffocating. We need to hit some 3’s to open up the middle, but they aren’t giving us anything

This year and next year will be bad.
Hopefully Paris has someone good coming.

Paris does have a good class coming in next year. This game is not over. Basketball is a game of runs, but very hard to win on the road against a very good team. They are ranked for a reason

We haven't been good all year. We have been average.
Team looks a lot like franks teams this year and we lose a lot after this year. Hope Paris can build it here.

I can never understand why Paris wants to play a small lineup against a huge lineup and we can’t even get rebounds or get a shot off. He’s going to have to bring our seven footer along cause we need some height to help out. The guy actually does a good job when he’s in there, but he only gets three minutes.

We lost 3 of our best players from last year so better get used to it. The SEC is by far the toughest league this year. We won’t win 7 road games this year. We are good, but our league is great. Look at the top 25. It’s a building year. If you expect a tournament team, then yes, you should stop watching now. We are in a re-building phase so not going to be pretty. If we were in the EZZ, yes, we could be a contender. But not in our league.

We are NOT good. We won't win 3 at home this year.
We don't have 1 SEC caliber gaurd on this team. We have a bunch of backup and 3rd string guards. We have 2 good post players everyone else is below average

Yes, but we only have 2 post players, no depth. Again, it’s a re-building year. This is not a tournament team. But, I still believe Paris was a good hire and will build the program. We’ll see.

Serious question - How do coaches "build a program" at a school that isn't a blueblood given the current environment with transfer rules, NIL, etc.? It seems more realistic to hope to catch lightning in a bottle and then wait to have your stars poached by those with deep pockets.... and hope you can duplicate it before you get shown the door.

I don't even think of the word "stability" when I consider today's college "money" sports, and I don't know how one builds anything without stability.

Agreed, it’s just like football, you have to build talent while filling in portal players. The incoming class will help but portal ply will be needed to fill in gaps. We brought in solid guys, just not as good S last year. Look at the blue blood Tarheels, they stink this year. Need to give Paris some time

Let's revisit this in about 8 games, but we are really missing some above average guard play and post depth from last year! Guys are going to have to grow up in a hurry!

I get that, it's just seems like once you get someone that shows promise, someone buys them away and it's this constant replacement cycle with the known good players leaving and having to replace them with unknown quantities. You may get fortunate and have a good team one year, but the reward is having them lured away by more money and thus the cycle continues. I don't see that as building, I see it as a farm team for others.
The possible exceptions being the schools that don't have to recruit - the blue-chippers just line up to go there. Yes, they have down years, but they are the exception, not the rule - sort of like our program in reverse.

I really don't know how coaches can have a realistic plan or vision for what they want to achieve since their circumstances are constantly changing.

You have to recruit great kids, win them over, convince them to stay and fill voids with the portal. Same as football just 1/8th the issues!
