First thought: Don't like Omaha, UAPB, and Valley on the schedule...

All were in the 340-350 range RPI last year.

That home non-conf schedule... WOOF. At least TCU was a tournament team last year.

Damn! It's not just that we don't even try to schedule to give ourselves a chance to make a tournament. We actively try to sabotage our tournament chances with RPI/NET killers.

I'd a whole lot rather go 3- 4 against a decent OOC schedule and miss the tournament than go 7-0 against this one and miss the tournament.

We have assured ourselves of a damn near 0% chance of making the tourney in basketball before the season even starts…..just like we assured ourselves of about a 5% chance of making it in baseball this past year if anything went wrong.

Very disappointing. What’s the point of dumping millions into a Hump upgrade if you’re not gonna put a product in it that people want to see?

The NCAA doesn’t use RPI anymore do they? I thought they used NET rankings instead.

All three were in the 340 - 350 NET range too.

RPI is the DO to the NET's MD and roughly the same.

Well, at least they scheduled Mississippi’s Premiere Medical School... which I mean... is right down the street.

Also, Mobile? Like Mobile High School?

University of. Which is in Prichard.

It's also in the same NAIA Conference as Mississippi's Premiere Medical School

Ugh. At some point mid to late season, we will be lamenting this weak schedule on this very board

I’m actually going to lament it now, and not pay any attention to the season. There’s literally no point. I’ll tune in to the SEC tournament until we get put out or win it, since that is our only path to a bid. If our athletic department cares this little about MBB, not sure why I should care any more.

I don't think the schedule will matter one iota. We aren't even a bubble team with this roster. There's just not much in the way of talent. That being the case, then I don't blame Jans for trying to stack wins, no matter the competition. Build some confidence (hopefully) in the non-conference, fight for your life in the conference and hope to be middle of the pack at best. Then use the conference's prestige and playing time opportunities to attract some players through the portal for next year. Hopefully there's some NIL opportunities available as well. That's my guess on how he's trying to build this thing.

Did anyone actually read the article? The home slate is total dogshit but that's only half of the OOC schedule. Marquette, Drake, Minnesota, GTech/Utah and two more with opponents yet to be announced (one in Jackson). We play around 12-13 OOC games a year not 7.

The other half doesn’t pass the smell test either.

TCU & Marquette are the two best nonconference teams we play.

The Jackson game is always against a poorly rated school.

Southern Miss fans are looking down at us for our poor schedule.**
