Mental benefits of playing a Juggernaut first game...

Anyone else feeling slightly more nervous now that we have a "winnable" OOC game to start the year rather than a perennial ***-beater? I know it is ridiculous...but it is in my State fan DNA to fear the worst from these first 2 games.

Lose to LSU, no big deal. Lose to LaTech or SELa...big deal. Granted, we have a better shot this year to get off on the right foot and build some serious momentum going into the Auburn game, but I think it is exactly that which worries me. Last year, we knew we would lose to LSU. This year, any state fan that knows we are going to sweep La Tech and SELa must have gotten Biff's almanac from Back to the Future.

Nevermind, even those people are screwed - that thing only goes to 2000.

Sorry if this has already been addressed in another thread - didnt see much discussion about it - wait, err - I am an idiot - I guess this is discussed in the Tech thread - I dont have time or sense to read before I post usually. But this has less to do about Ga Tech and more to do about aniticipating the start of the season - you have to think it is better for our players.

Granted, our team bounced back last year, but I think that was an anomaly. 4 times out of 5, a team won't recover from an *** beating like that to start the season. You spend the entire off-season and fall practice working toward a goal, i.e. SEC championship, and all of a sudden before your season even gets started you are rudely told that you're nowhere CLOSE to competing with the best teams in the league. I think the LSU games were a horrible idea, especially coming off 3-win seasons where there was no real reason to think we could play with them. I feel much better starting out with these 2 games.

Ironically, though, this is actually one year when I would take LSU as the first game, before they can establish a QB (or the last game, by which time Trindon Holliday will be taking snaps.)

you are just thinking that we will lose one of those first two. I would much rather start off with the possibility of going 2-0 than a definite 0-1 (0-1).

I am so ready for Dorsey to play his first game as a pro so we can stop seeing the mauling of Henig/celabratory dance ad nauseum on ESPN.

....was that at no point during the rest of the season did I have to look at the schedule and see that we still had to play LSU.
