Message for Jamont Gordon

If you want to learn how to play PG, watch Derrick Rose of Memphis' tapes from the tournament.
No, you dont have his skills, no you dont have his outside shot, no you arent nearly as quick, no you wont ever be a NBA top 2 draft pick....but watch him never the less. He can fill a stat sheet just like you can BUT
You NEVER see a Derrick Rose-money offensive set, where he walks the ball up the court, and jacks up a shot over a defender. He fills his stat line up WITHIN the offense. If someone is wide open he hits them with the pass. Not some whirling dervish pass where everyone ooh and aahs, but a fundamental pass. Also you almost never see Rose trying to be non-chalant like "Yeah I am good, so I know I dont have to throw a sharp pass everytime" and then watch as the balls sails out of bounds are someone takes it 90 feet for a slam.
In fact you never see him walk the ball up the court late in a close game with time running out.
So work on fundamental basketball at the point...if you are a star people will figure it out without you having to go to all the trouble of pointing it out to them.
Now I will admit that some of this isnt your fault, because Calipari actually runs an offense for Rose to fit into and Calipari's offensive philosphy isnt to find one star and have everyone else play defense and rebound...but still, its not all on Stans either. Some of its on you. Even Jordan passed the ball to Kerr when Kerr was open.

Why can't you be more like Michael Jordan? That way you could satisfy our cockmuncher fans that constantly want you to be someone else and ignore the fact that you were first team SEC and one of the best ever at MSU.

Sincerely'

"One of the best ever"
and I dont get it.
Better than:
Donate Jones?
Jeff Malone?
Ray White?
Baily Howell?
Erik Dampier?
Marcus Bullard?
Darryl Wilson?
Ricky Brown?
Lawrence Roberts?
Mario Austin?
Swat? who was National defensive player of the year as a first year starter

And thats me with a horrible memory in 15 seconds.
I just dont get this worship of all things Jamont by some of our fans..there were basketball players at MSU before Jamont showed up.

on most of those names, however I think Jamont is quite comfortable being listed in their company. I'd replace Bullard with Bowers and maybe even add Zimmerman to the list. While he wasn't a prolific scorer he was much quicker than Jamont and ran a good offense with Bowers and Ignerski et al to dish to. I think if we could combine Zim and Jamont, we'd have ourselves a Rose!

That if Gordon comes back next season, the MSU record book will have his name all over it. Also, way to exaggerate. I said ONE of the best ever at MSU. Jeff Malone was a great shooter but look at the teams he played on and his overall game. Dontae played well for one month. Ray White? Mario Austin? Marcus Bullard? PUHLEEEZE.

Actually if you put a gun to my head (and take away the drug dealing and pistol whipping), I think I'd take Bullard. Good enough size, better shooter and much better defender. Both of them can be turnover prone so that's a wash.

That Bullard was surrounded by the best team in MSU history and two NBA draft picks. He did not and could not carry the load that Jamont has to shoulder. The turnover issue with Gordon is a wash with Bullard also.

just when it seems you can't be a bigger idiot you go and outdo yourself. Sure we don't need anymore players like Jamont. We need a team full of Ben Hansbroughs. Then I really think a lot of our racist fans would be quite satisfied.

Mario Austin has become grossly underappreciated by our fanbase since he left. No one stopped him on the low block, and he was an excellent passer.

I guess it's because he was replaced with Roberts who went on to finish in the top four for national player of the year.

However, when you look at what Austin did for us for three years, he should be regarded as one of our best (I won't say ever because I can only comment on the mid-90's forward).

I hate things didn't turn out any better for him after he left MSU.

Coming out of high school, Bullard was a big-time scorer (I'm pretty sure he had at least one 60-point game). He had to adjust his style of play a lot when he came here. We tried to make him into a point guard, and he was the 4th option behind Wilson, Damp, and Dontae. Put him in the same role as the primary ballhandler and first option with a good post player to go with him, and I think he could do just as well as Jamont.
