How is that possible?
If you keep getting injured, can you play until you can no longer walk?

He must have around 200 credit hours by now. Surely he has been attending classes as a full time student the whole time.

I fairly lollygagged through my undergrad b/c I was working a 60 hour a week job, but even I managed to finish in 7 years.

Surely, after 9 years, you've amassed enough credits for a degree in something. These guys aren't in the honors college.

To be fair, he's only been in college for 8 years. By now, his teammates and the other students on campus have to all look like babies to him, he's at least 26 years old.

To put it in perspective, he was in the 2016 recruiting class. Others from that class are now veterans in the NFL.

It says he had to sit out almost 3 years, but c'mon.
I hope for the young man it works out for him. If not he should have enough credits for a Doctorate degree.

I remember how young freshmen and sophomores looked when I was a senior in college. If I were still there four years later, the juniors and seniors would look young and the freshmen and sophomores would look like middle school students.

This is his path to now. He says he loves college football and being on a team, but the rest of life is waiting dude. I don't think he'll get drafted:

Set to be 26 years old before the 2024 season begins, McCormick began his career playing for his home state Oregon Ducks. He stayed in Eugene for seven seasons and earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree before hitting the transfer portal and joining the Miami Hurricanes before the 2023 season. (There has been no word as to whether he is working on his Doctorate or a separate Master's).

A traditional redshirt, the "Covid" redshirt, and multiple medical redshirts are responsible for McCormick's ability to stay in school and remain eligible. New Gamecock transfer quarterback Robby Ashford was a teammate of McCormick's at Oregon.

The guy gets to live the dream for 9 seasons. 😂

I didn’t have the talent to make it past High School level sports. But I know how much it sucked after my last sporting event my senior year. I kind of moped around for a few days.

This guy is probably going to feel like that x1000. I hope he is going to be alright post college! 😬

When things are getting tough, I tell myself why I’m doing it and who I’m doing it for. To have that opportunity at the next level and live out my dream that I’ve had since a little kid.”
At the rate he's going, he'll die in his sleep before that happens.

He’s lasted roughly 3x longer in college than the average NFL career lasts.

I sincerely hope he uses this free education, room and board, etc wisely. Jokes aside, that’s a great head start on life over most grads.

Sounds like he actually got 2 semi-respectable degrees. Undergrad was journalism. Masters in brand management or something like that.
