It's a lot more fun to play when no one gets cut, huh Phil?

11 out of 14 players from the LIV tour miss the cut and any money. Now I can see why they wanted off the PGA Tour - who wants to make money based on their performance? It's better to just make money for showing up!

Not sure how playing mediocre talent makes you better to play majors, but they’re rich! Good luck to them!

Look, all y’all get off your dern high horse. Each one of you fools would probably sell your first born for a few mill. These dudes are looking ahead, hustling and making their money. Don’t worry about their money, don’t worry about their game, Phil has enough credit in my book as far as his game and how he played it. It’s his business now, nobody gives 3 craps about the pga , I don’t, I don’t play in it.. neither do you. So ease up on these guys for wanting to cash out at the end of their lines. Geez

They are just following the lead of politicians in this country except they are only selling out the game of golf - not the country. Moral standards and character are a lost art and the proud members of the greatest generation are rolling over in their graves at what we have become. ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.

You’re right, it’s a business decision, a lot of players are going to jump, no skin of my nose either! I’m just saying if you play the game for more than the money, it’s probably not a great move, just watch Rahm’s interview, he seems to get it!

Money night win, but the distinction that has marked tournament golf at the highest level will be lost. Tournament golf was about players scrapping to get a foothold and then building a career through continued good performance. It was about being hungry and determined. It was about getting paid according to what you earned. If that be lost, then let the rest be lost with it, as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, that’s the thing I always loved about golf, you only get paid on your individual performance, you don’t play you don’t get paid, you don’t perform you don’t get paid, you get hurt you don’t get paid, you don’t play you don’t get sponsorship deals, nothing is guaranteed and that brings out the best in players, not anymore!

Watered down fields will be the undoing.

I always loved watching the PGA Tour because you knew you were watching the best compete. Now, there will be doubt.

I flipped on the USFL game yesterday. The stadium was empty, no fans. Is it because everyone knows these guys aren’t the best?

I don’t mean to besmirch Phil - just poking some fun. Guys want to make an easy buck, so be it. They’ve played golf long enough that they know who they are and who they aren’t at this point in their careers. And you don’t join the LIV if your career is on the upswing.

that said, I do mean to besmirch the league. Its a gimmick and with their “business plan” they couldn’t even begin to turn a profit a decade from now. So I wonder what they’re really up to. I suspect money laundering.

Phil has been my all time favorite golfer, I am 68 and grew up rooting for Jack, Tom Watson, and the Shark. Phil has really hurt his legacy, but I think he will remain a top fifteen all time golfer. Hate that his gambling has caused him to sacrifice his legacy. I will still root for him, but his image to me now is one of greed and selfishness.

It seems like a toy for the mega-rich, like some would buy a team to play around with the Saudi's bought a whole league just to have something to play around with and probably a great way to launder money.

The LIV tour to me is the equivalent of participation trophies for kids sports. You may stink as a player but you are going to get a trophy. In this case, a big check
Lol….yeah, that’s it. Forgetting of course those guys are getting paid based on what they achieved thus far. Its like actors…the more accomplished and successful get paid more for their roles. You think LIV is offering you or I a participation trophy? They are trying to get the top players in the world. I do feel like it will be a failed attempt like the USFL, but who really cares?

Why would they have a need to launder money. Until 3 months ago crude oil was payed for with U. S. dollars...which is accepted all around the world. Only illegally obtained money needs to be laundered.

Well, they made $10,000 for "just showing up" for the US Open and missing the cut, so there's that...
