Yes, Ms. Krieger misunderstands that she is expected to attend Board meetings.I’m sure it’s all just a misunderstanding.
The meeting structure allows and provides for Trustees to join remotely. It is far from ideal - and certainly not as valuable as "in person" IMO - but that capability is certainly made available for all trustees, and at least a few trustees use that format each meeting. Trustee Krieger TTBOMK, to date, has taken advantage of neither the in-person option nor the remote option (one can check the meeting minutes to confirm). For those who don’t know, Ali is a professional soccer player who may not have the flexibility to attend BOT meetings in person.

Personally, I am less concerned with those who don't show up (who are relatively few), than by those who show up empty. I think that is more or less congruent with your concerns. And the board is sadly no more or less effective with her there. Given her platform, I’d think most here would be happy she’s MIA.
Given her platform had absolutely nothing to do with governance of the university and the fact that she's MIA I'll ask you if you would vote for her again? I'd also like to know why you thought she was a candidate worthy of your vote during the last election? And the board is sadly no more or less effective with her there. I guess the other Trustees have nothing to do in their lives so of course they attend meetings. We all know that CEO's and Presidents of large companies have very little to do.Maybe she doesn't like onion dip. Can't blame her for that.
Postseason aside, it looks like her season ends on Oct.15th. We'll see if she shows up after that.

Members of the Board Of Trustees have a fiduciary duty to this University. It should generally take precedence over their own individual responsibilities. If you cannot make that commitment, you should not assume the office. For those who don’t know, Ali is a professional soccer player who may not have the flexibility to attend BOT meetings in person. This is her final year of playing pro soccer so she may be looking more to the future of the BOT, but i do sympathize with those who question why she ran for the BOT this year if she could not devote the time to the BOT.
Only on request.Does PSU mail onion dip to remote participants?

When did the BOT ever take their fiduciary responsibilities seriously?Members of the Board Of Trustees have a fiduciary duty to this University. It should generally take precedence over their own individual responsibilities. If you cannot make that commitment, you should not assume the office.
Might help that, if for a starter, PSU's administration took fiscal responsibility seriously. When did the BOT ever take their fiduciary responsibilities seriously?
She lives in Pittsburgh?Maybe she had an opera to attend![]()

Agree with this, 100% If anything is ever going to change, it's going to require something else. It's not a serious position of influence and it doesn't matter who sits in the seats.
Okay, did my six year old's baseball/t-ball game, a birthday party, and caught a quick nap before hosting guests tonight. So, thought about this a bit. Answer - yes, I'd probably vote for her again. Short answer is I do not believe the BOT and especially the Alumni elected trustees are in a position to do much of anything about anything. They're chum for the alumni to get worked up over and really, by title, should be serving the interests of the alumni who elected them - not personal agendas. Of course, they don't really do that. Anyway, all that to say they don't do much and can't do much. I support the initiatives (in a broad sense) Krieger says she represents and voted for Pope as well.
I like Lubrano but he really hasn't done anything and of course Jay even less than that. Nine Barry's aren't going to do much of anything either, so I figured, why not? It's not a serious position of influence and it doesn't matter who sits in the seats. I do think it is bad form to not have been to any in-person meetings. I suspect forcing her to eat a few carbs might be punishment enough though.
Before that "something else" happens someone has to shine a light on the problem and Barry is the only one doing it. Nine Barrys mean brighter lights. You're not going to like the result of conceding the field.Agree with this, 100% If anything is ever going to change, it's going to require something else.

The "right people" are in Harrisburg and they're not paying attention. That will only happen when there is enough noise and one person won't do it.You only need one Barry if he’s sitting in the right seat. Nine may shine a brighter light, but won’t matter until the right people start paying attention to it.
