Looks like it could be a sellout this weekend. That's just so great to see a good product on the floor that people will support. Wonder how many SEC teams not named UK would sell 18K tickets to watch their team play an 0-6 team dead last in the conference??

I think every SEC team would sell out their arena for every game if their program is competitive. 18K is a lot of seats but it really isn't a lot of seats to fill for a major sport event at an SEC school. I think it is sort of sad that CLA doesn't sell out for every home men's game considering the Columbia metro area is around 1 million people and Carolina is the home town team.

The Colonial center was built to keep getting concerts and other events. Concerts started bypassing the Carolina Col. The CC was perfect for basketball but not large enough for other events.

Georgia is just as competitive as us, and they're not selling out their 10K seat arena. They did for UT, but that's about it. UT just had 17K show up in their 21K seat arena for the UF game, and they've been a top 10 team for a few years now.

We have the 5th biggest arena in the SEC in terms of capacity, so it's a lot of seats even for the SEC.

Well, there are only 3 other SEC programs who could even sell 18,000 tickets to one of their games unless they played the game in somebody else's arena. It's popular on this site to malign CLA, but the truth is that it's a very nice university-owned facility. The only real problem with it is that it has all-too-rarely housed a competitive men's team.

UGA basketball has been abysmal forever. If they become remotely competitive in the SEC with any staying power they will sell out every game. 120,000 people live in Athens and 6 million live in Atlanta, 1 hour away from Athens. They will sell 10K tickets in the blink of an eye if their basketball team gets any momentum.

CLA is huge. It was built to attract major concerts, not for basketball. Selling it out seems like a big deal but as long as Carolina is winning regularly, they should sell it out.

Maybe do a promotional gimmick like a free slice of pizza or give away free chop sticks.
