So, there's a lot of math here, but I found it interesting. The basic idea is that this year's draft is so good that a team (his most likely candidates were the Yankees, Dodgers, and Braves in that order) could dump a ton of money well over their bonus pool into this year's draft, take the penalty (next two years' first round picks) because those drafts are going to have a lesser talent pool. I'm not sure I understand all of the minutiae, but it was an interesting read.
