"I just wanted to get out of town (Oxford). That was basically it. I wanted to get out of Oxford and MSU was going to give me that opportunity. But I am open now. I have all the way until February to make a decision. I am going to go to the Ole Miss camp on July 26th and go from there. I want to see how the coaches interact with the players. That is the main thing."

This is why we don't have a lot of success with Oxford area kids, even though there have been a decent number of D-1 prospects in the city/county recently. Just curious, does MSU typically land most of the D-1 talent from Starkville? I haven't followed much, and I can't think of any examples off the top of my head.

Edited to add: This is also an example of why I don't like to follow recruiting, especially when signing day is so far off. Commitments are fun, but they obviously don't mean much until a) they sign on the dotted line in February, and b) they actually enroll in school as a full qualifier.

shortest commitment in the history of HS football recruiting commitments. What was that like maybe a whopping 24 hours?

He committed to Ole Miss one morning and decommitted that same afternoon I believe, and the kicker is that I believe he committed to MSU later that week and stuck with his commitment. And of course he failed to qualify, which made it all a moot point anyway.

In the past we have had Barrin Simpson, Jason Clark, and Edward Yeates among others. I know Eric Rice went to Ole Miss.

I don't think Starkville High has produced quite as much talent recently.

Again, I do follow recruiting to keep an eye on who we are bringing in, but I don't buy into anyone's rankings, and I don't go punting my cat when we get a new commitment.

He's in Oxford, it's early, he's facing some local pressure, etc. Yancy wrote the article too, by the way, probably exaggerated some things.

And if not, ****, we're are in with a lot of solid athletes/receivers this year.

you never see the QUALIFIED category on any player's profile?

I wonder if this MP guy will get academically qualified at all ?

</p>So you're stating that you believe that Yancy completely made up the quotes?

Thats a stretch, even for you.

Yancy is dumb. He makes up stuff in tidbits as "inside information" for the Spirit page that gets lapped up by the homers.

But I don't see him as someone who would make up quotes.

No matter how stupid Rosebowl and Gene are, I don't believe they'd make up quotes, either.
