More bad news for LSU

The Ocean Spring skid who spurned LSU on ESPN and committed to Hattiesburg University is completely eligible per my work partner who wears yellow way too often. All I heard from LSU was "He can't become eligible. We backed away from him." I can't wait to see those teams play in a couple of years coming up. LSU = King Excuse.

Getting in an SEC school vs a CUSA school are two entirely different things. No way he would have qualified for OM,MSU or LSU.

If I translated your question correctly, the difference is that CUSA can take two prop 48 (has either ACT or GPA, but not both) athletes per year. The SEC no longer allows prop 48 students.

an article on this exact topic
More Homerism: The Last Temptation of DeAndre Brown
(yes, SMQ is a USM grad)

and some pertinent quotes:
So from the NCAA's perspective, the eligibility standards for Southern Miss and LSU are exactly the same. If there is a higher or lower academic standard at either school, it's imposed by the institution itself
which brings us to
there is no precedent for major recruits signing with a mid-major conference team for academic reasons
discuss.

I remember this whole discussion in February, and I remember that I got so confused that I determined it just wasn't worth knowing about.

This ought to be one of those things that we archive if someone can give a good explanation. This topice, the HOPE scholarship, the pecking order for televised football games. We could have a reference section of 6pack..like our wikipedia.

He had no chance of qualifying in the SEC.

LSU will continue to bring in top shelf talent every year, and Ole Miss has plenty of good recievers. I don't know much about State's situation, but one reciever won't make a team like a qb will.

DeAndre Brown is really the only loser in this whole thing. If he had decent or even not complete **** grades, he'd be on tv 7 times a year and play for championships. Instead he'll be lucky if 20,000 people see him against TCU on a Tuesday, and if he's lucky he'll go to the Liberty Bowl.

Are you talking about LSU and USM. You really are eagerly awaiting that?

I guess everyone needs something to look forward to. But, damn.

Even is USM beat out LSU for Brown, do you honestly think that gives them a chance? LSU has won two national championships in 5 years. They've won two SEC titles in 5 years and have won the SEC West 3 of the last 5 years. In that same time fram, USM has won 1 C-USA title.

Your post seems to indicate that LSU is making a bunch of excuses and the USM is going to come in there and show them whats up. Do you really believe this? Do you really think Les Miles is up all night thinking about his upcoming series with USM? I would consider it good for USM if they can keep within two TD's of LSU.

I agree. This is DeAndre Brown's loss, and honestly I could care less that he's at USM. He'll never play against my team, so he won't have any effect on my Saturdays whatsoever. And for that matter, he's playing at a school where the best he can hope for is a chance for a December trip to Memphis.

Good luck to him on that. I really don't worry too much about anyone that chooses a CUSA school over SEC schools. It's his choice if he'd rather play rivalry games with UAB in front of 20,000 people rather than rivalry games in front of 90,000. I don't really understand it, but that's the path he's taken.

Wasn't there something back in Feb about the SEC schools requiring one more math class or something thatn CUSA schools last year. That may have proven to be false information but I remember it being discussed
