from Yancy...

**I know many are probably concerned about Ole Miss' position with WR Pat Patterson after listening to the interview. I even stated on the message board after the interview that the Rebels were behind the 8 ball.

But I got a call from someone who is very close to Pat who has shared the following.

Right now, LSU if the leader. No iffs ands or butts about it. Interesting enough, Arkansas is in second place.

MSU and Ole Miss are still very much in the game, but they are behind LSU and Arkansas . But I have been told that if MSU and Ole Miss stay consistent with Pat all the way until the end, they will probably be the teams to beat when it is all said and done.

The Bulldogs have thought they have had Pat wrapped up in Maroon and White for quite some time now. When Coach Beamer was informed on Tuesday that MSU was not even his leader, the Dogs were shocked to say the least.

MSU has been scrambling around trying to figure out what to do the last couple of days.

I will close it with this, both MSU and Ole Miss have people very close to Pat giving them good vibes about their school.

I expect this to go down to the wire, regardless if an early commitment is made to any school.

Evidently Coach Beamer loved MSU so much that he continues to recruit for you from his new job at USC.

1) Yancy's an idiot.

and

2) If there is any truth to the fact that Patterson has LSU and Arkansas at the top now but it will come down to MSU and OM in the end, that just shows again how stupid it is to follow recruiting. Some of these guys have their heads on straight, but a lot of them are flaky at best.

I call BS. It's possible that LSU might lead, but MSU has lead the entire way with him. Coach Stringer couldn't say anything about specific recruits in Jackson at the 120 club. I heard someone ask him before his interview about a 6-4 receiver from Macon/Noxubee County. Stringer smiled and seemed confident about him. Who knows? This **** is a crapshoot.

exactly where Beamer was when he was "informed" of that information. I think it was early Spring last year when he traded in his crooked cap for a visor wasn't it?

that anyone was sharing MSU recruiting information with him while he's in Columbia.

That always cracks me up too. All the talk about who is leading. In a lot of cases, the "leader" is the team that's sent the most letters, or the team that called them last, or the school they visited most recently. Sometimes it's legit, but I can't take being the leader very seriously.

It's pretty funny when there is a big time talent in Mississippi and Ole miss is "behind the 8 ball with him", Yancy pleads to the people that everything is ok and that Ole Miss will be there in the end. I mean seriously, MSU nor ole miss have enough football pull and tradition to just get whoever they want. The obvious in that we have is he's from Noxubee County. MSU has done well there. Omar Conner played there (Germans) and TJ Billups is the mens basketball coach. That's our obvious "in" with Shaunessey. Im no recruiting expert, but I expect it to be a 3 way race between MSU, Auburn, and LSU.

I think Yancy is silly as hell. He pumps sunshine, he would be a fool if he didn't. It's his livelyhood. I posted this due to the Beamer comment, not because of Patterson. With that said, you are crazy if you think OM is out of it. He may like LSU, but their numbers are limited this season, they committed several bigtime WR last season, and they have two athletes who will possibly be WRs already committed. If OM fields a slightly competitive team this season (6 wins or more), we are in it. If we suck, we are out of it. Both of us have contacts at Noxubee that are helping us with Patterson. Both of our recruiting seasons will come down to how this season plays out. Both of us have question marks going into the season that could spell bad news. On the other hand, both of us have relatively soft schedules that could allow us to bowl. It's definitely a crap shoot at this point.

Yancy is just a total idiot. Even beyond that he's a delusional idiot. Why ANYONE would pay to read his drivel is beyond me.

His drivel comes along with the subscription to the site. It isn't Yancy's site. Bulldawg junction has a good site. Rob Harrelson may be an asshat, but that doesn't mean the whole site is ****.

Why do I give a %$$$?

What makes you so confident that he is yours? Maybe the very asshat recruiting sites that you blast? Or is it that YOUR sites are objective, but OURS are sunshine. I don't know how Patterson's recruitment will play out, but I doubt an instate school is out of it complete in May of his junior year.

It has become apparent that you can't have a conversation without being a homer. I posted something on a MSU board, making fun of an OM board and you want to get into a pissing match over it. Posting here doesn't exempt you from being a sheep.

For that matter, I'm sure wide receivers coach Guy Holliday has to be extremely disappointed on missing out on a prospect like this. Oh well, Wayne Madkin still has Eric Moulds and Terrell Grindle to throw to in the Fall.

You're above recruiting talk. It's stupid. Doesn't matter until signing day. Doesn't matter until four years after they sign. Yet you chime in on every single thread related to recruiting. Give it a rest. Unless you're just typing to read your own worthless self-righteousness . . . .

Like someone said yesterday, we all know MSU is doing things right when you two come in trying to downplay those things. Your agenda is better served for you not to comment on the situation.

Fact of the matter is, you're going out of your way to try to paint the picture that Ole Miss's football program is on par with MSU's right now. It isn't. We went 8-5 and look to improve, and seem to be doing well on the recruiting trail. You went 3-9 and also look to improve, and, uh, well, at least Nutt is saying the right things. Get over it.

Shouldn't you be raising hell on the LSU boards anyway? You shouldn't care what we say.

I think you covered it all. And yes our programs are very much on par. They've been basically at the same level ever since Vaught retired. We're both bottom tier SEC programs that have mediocre seasons on occasion and will on very rare occasion have a really great season. The pissing matches make me laugh. The only three SEC programs either of us can compare favorably with are Vandy and UK, and maybe South Carolina historically. Other than that, everyone else is and will continue to be better than us over the long haul.

You had one of your occasional mediocre seasons last year. We'll have some mediocre seasons again in the near future, and we'll both have some really bad ones. The last 35-40 years give us a pretty good idea what we can expect for the next 35-40. In 2050, you'll still have Ole Miss and MSU fans arguing over whose program is closer to average based largely on how many Independence Bowls we make between now and then.

How do you know what will happen? Why do you keep on with the word "both"? Because they're in the same state? The two are independent of each other. You see, that's when we all know you're getting scared that MSU has passed you, when you start latching onto us like we're somehow attached. You said last year that "both schools" would continue to suck because of inept ADs. Guess what, they "both" didn't.

If you were really on par with us, you wouldn't be doing that.

I actually give Ole Miss credit for the things they do right. I gave them props for baseball, basketball and O's 2006 recrootin' class. Why can't Ole Miss fans do the same?

that just shows again how stupid it is to follow recruiting
couldn't agree more with that statement. to make it worse, a portion of the guys that everyone is so hard up for will never qualify, will change their minds, will shoot someone at the BP in Starkville for a pack of gum and purple drink, etc.

i am glad we have people working hard to recruit but that is about the extent of my level of interest. as long as the football coaches don't pull a Polk by giving up or making excuses then I don't really give a crap.

you start to believe it.

I know how recruiting is, but I still like to follow it. So what? I don't see the problem.

The main reasons we're bottom tier and the main reasons we'll remain bottom tier are financial. We can have good runs, but barring a major change in the finances of our programs, or more importantly in the enrollment of our schools, we'll be on that same plane.

We have similar enrollments, similar endowments, similar fundraising efforts, similar alumni bases, etc. We can jump up and do good things on occasion, but barring major changes in the overall structure of our schools, not just the athletic department, we'll likely stay as bottom tier schools.

This is evidenced even more by our recent hire of Nutt. We offered him a contract paying him $1.7M this year and up to I believe $2.1M by his 5th year. That would've put him as I believe the 3rd highest paid coach in the SEC West. However, by the time renegotiations had occurred, Nutt's contract fell quickly to 5th in the West. No matter what strides we make in facilities and coaching pay, we won't ever catch the top programs in the SEC unless there is a major change in the structure and size of our universities.

If we were in the Big East, I'd say it wasn't that big of a deal, but money is a huge deal in our conference, and that's why we've been bottom tier schools over the past 40 years.

but no one has taken them. Leadership at MSU has prevented it. Hell LSU has probably as big a fanbase in south MS as MSU or Ole Miss. Southern shouldn't even be a factor, but it is. Southern should be like Troy in Alabama. Their graduates are still Bama and Auburn fans. There is a reason for that.

The process begins with continual, sustained progress and success, not quick success (Jackie) and not staying the same, like LT did. There needs to be an incentive to be a State or whoever fan.

Does Ole Miss have that problem? If so, then yeah we're similar.

Maybe you could show me where I downplayed yor team. My agenda?

I said that both of us have question marks going into the season, but also have relatively soft schedules that might make up for it. I realize that we were bad last season. I also realize that we have better coaching & an actual QB for a change.
I said that both of our seasons will have an effect on our classes. I said that OM was a player for Patterson if we won some games this season & we are out if we don't.

For the record....I can't see us getting worse next year. It's hard to do worse than 3 wins. We have better coaching, a more experienced team, and an actual QB for a change. I don't see us winning 9 games or anything, but I do see us finishing with 5-8 wins. Do you think it's impossible for us to improve from 3 games to 5-8? Cause I seem to remember yall winning 3 in 2006, then 7 in 2007.

I could see yall winning anywhere from 5-8 also. You have more experience at QB, an experienced secondary, and a good running game. However, you did lose some key players that will be hard to replace....Titus, Blackledge, AJ, & Brown. You also replaced Ellis Johnson with Cheese (who has never been a DC before). Therefore, forgive me for not predicting 9 wins for you. I could see yall winning anywhere from 5-8 also.
