Of course everyone knows about the Tennessee and Clemson wins this season. But we won 8 games. Which game would you say is the most underrated win for this program?

I think there are 2 that stick out. And we really didn’t play well in either game.

1 - Texas A&M - while they were reeling, it was nice to get the monkey off our back of never having beat them since they joined the SEC.

2 - Kentucky - Road win, against a ranked team. Many discounted it because Levis was out, but who cares? It’s always nice to beat Kentucky.

I would say Texas A&M, because as you stated we never beat them, it's a first, but there is no wrong answer, beating a ranked KY team on the road was important as well.

Now it would be nice if this team gets a another first, A Gator Bowl Win!

Not trying to be funny at all. Dead serious:

GA. State. Reasons being: 1) 1st game of the season and I don't care who you're playing or who you are - you just never know what the heck is going to happen in that first game. 2) GA. State wasn't scared of us at all and with a few funny bounces of the ball could have easily beaten us and wrecked our entire season, confidence, etc.... 3) I understand we were expected to win that game but I stand by reasons. 4) TAMU was just an absolute train wreck this season but yes it was nice to finally beat them. I'd rate them as 2nd best win. 5) Kentucky is always Kentucky and IMHO we should never, ever, lose to them. They're like Vandy but just a little bit better.

The obvious "Wow" game was UT. Only *I* saw that coming and stated so right here on this forum before hand. <wink> True story. I didn't expect us to annihilate them though in the fashion we did. I even stated outright "Hooker" wouldn't make it through the whole game. That's 2/2. If you want to know who's going to win the ND game I'm gonna have to say ND because we haven't put together 3 straight hot games since Spurrier was here and we have no RB's.

Agree with everything you said except Beamer and staff along with fired up players will bring home a win!

Clemsux, cause we deserved it & needed it to stop a great many things from dragging on

I thought the question was excluding Clemsux, but maybe I ready it wrong LOL

I change my answer to Clemsux as well, :)

I like the GA State answer.
But....JuJu is a dangerous player. I wouldn't be surprised if we broke out with a 100 yard rush game and 50 plus receiving if he gets most of the time. I hope he stays his whole time at USC.

Clemson win was special because we (and Rattler) could have easily folded after the early interception for a TD and getting down 14 points early. Rattler's other interception in the end zone was another momentum killer. But to the team's credit they persevered and came back to win with big plays of their own by all units (offense, defense and special teams). To break all the streaks after being on a losing path early in the game makes it a huge win!

I'll say UTen...
Beat #5, but hidden in the big win was the single greatest performance by a Gamecock QB ever.
Usually those kinds of performances are reserved for non-ranked teams.

Interesting question...clearly Tennessee and Clemson are eliminated since those were top ten upsets. Nothing underrated about either of those!

Beating Charlotte and SC State is nothing to brag about.

So that leaves Georgia State, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Texas A&M.

While I understand where the poster above is coming from arguing for the Georgia State win as most underrated, I'd disagree just because of how bad Georgia State ended up being. They were 4-8 and a really bad football team.

Beating Texas A&M definitely wasn't underrated. It was the best win of the season at the time, and beating someone you've never beaten before can't be underrated.

Beating Kentucky on the road, at night, when they were ranked was a huge win as well. I don't see that as an underrated win; Kentucky for the last decade has been Carolina's Achilles heel.

I would argue that Vanderbilt is the most underrated win. It's a game we always expect to win, but this year Vandy was a sneaky solid team. They beat Florida and Kentucky and gave Ole Miss and Missouri real scares. That seems to be the textbook definition of an "underrated" win.

Can't argue with your reasoning. RE: the GA State argument I made, it wasn't about how good or bad they were per se, it was more about just the first game. Seasons tend to suck when you lose your opener. Can't argue with Vandy. Good call.

I agree with Vandy. I saw spots in that game where the offense showed what it potentially could do (the Kentucky and A&M wins were due to defense and special teams). And, as we know, the offense realized that potential against Clemson and especially UT.
