Not even a little surprise. Hawaii is already a football-only member of the conference.

Makes sense. It can’t be that much of a difference to travel in the Big West footprint than the Mountain West and the Mountain West is now incentivized to shell out the extra travel to keep the conference together.

The MW situation is only better than Conference USA. Hawaii is probably a better add than any of those teams, assuming they actually get their stadium built.

I honestly thought if the MW imploded, Hawaii would end up as an FCS team, but looks like they’re going to make it.

The sticking point here is travel costs.
