So ESPN shows history of GT vs Vandy and above the stats it says, "What do you want? More Cowbell!" That was strange.
Probably got us confused with one of them due to similar US News and World Report academic rankings

It's not strange because they play for a cowbell trophy that predates Miss State cowbell. They are not confused
What trophy is that? Heard it mentioned during the game, seems like an odd "oh and it predates Mississippi state..." I looked up the Birmingham bowl trophy and it's their iron worker dude with an anvil.
It's not anything associated with the BB. It's spose to be an old rivalry between Vandy and GT and the winner gets a cowbell trophy kinda like the Egg. 100 year old thing.
Apparently back in the early days, Vandy vs Ga. Tech was a big rivalry. They played for a cowbell trophy. They hardly play anymore and the announcers said Georgia Tech had actually lost the trophy before it was found a few years ago. Last time the two teams played before today was 2016 and the last time Vandy won was 1941. So they get the bowl trophy and the cowbell trophy to take back to Nashville.
