Has anyone heard the rumor going around campus is that a guy by the name Mimo Parisi is lobbying and being pushed for the job by Robert Khayatt, Meridith, and others? This guy is a native of Italy and a Sociologist on campus who has no administrative experience. Heard his "pimps" are Larry Oatis (former Mayor of Tupelo) and George Schogel (Hancock Bank Exec),

I know it sounds crazy and didnt believe it at first, but I think this is true.

From his vita, he's done some decent research and gotten $14 million in grants, but doesn't have any administrative experience. If he compares favorably to Watson, then Keenum might get more consideration.

Edit to correct money figure.

I keep hearing that Watson is the pick and then Keenum is the next President after he resigns.

If the Parisi gentleman gets the job we will be in trouble. I would rather have JWS than someone with zero administrative experience. This is a critical time for MSU and we need to take advantage of all the things we have going our way right now.

that they arent that stupid. MSU does not need a sociology person as a president. We are not a liberal arts university and we dont even need to try to be. My money is on Watson. I could see a "surprise" pick of Shultz. And I would be fine with either.

And he's the man who subsequent presidents have been compared to...

...with most, if not all of them, found to be lacking.

God help us. I know we can't avoid Meridith, but Khayat has no business anywhere near this search.

I confirmed that he did go to Oxford to seek Khayatt's "blessing", whatever in the hell that has to do with it, and also he is going around campus promising people jobs and who would need new jobs. This guy is a joke and better have his resume ready to send out.

name repeatedly, although that isn't much of a suprise that the interum president would be often mentioned as the next President.

With that said, it is very difficult to find anyone who has anything bad to say about Watson. The guy is universally liked. I understand that doesn't mean he can run our University. But, it means that nobody is likely to go through the roof if he gets the job.

Watson may be a nice guy, but we don't need him to be the next president. We need someone who will be around longer that 4 or 5 years. Watson = another Charles Lee.

Khayat meddling with MSU if true.

That would be Alabama's President messing with Auburn.

Furthermore, someone from MSU needs to grow a sack and tell Khayat to <17> off.

While I'm not against short-term presidencies, my one concern with Watson is that he's unlikely to be at MSU as president for more than four years since he's been at MSU for around 40 years already.

Do you say "right now" due to the fact he's likable coupled with the shitstorm Doc left in his wake? Personally I would rather hire Keenum now and not have to worry about a Pres search for a long time.

point and I would like to have a long term president, Watson is no Charles Lee. At all. Vance Watson is damn near a hero to the faculty and to a lot of alumni. Lee was sort of just an obscure guy that got thrown into the position.
