To have that post, this late in the season.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it kind of clashes with my cynicism.

I just can't help it.

Ron Polk, frisky about winning his first SEC series this year, suddenly feels "rejuvenated". After winning out in the rest of the SEC series and barely making the SEC tourney, MState wins the whole thing. This gets them a #4 Seed into the Corvallis Regional.

In their first game against Oregon State, Polkie gets kicked out of the game and lets Tommy Raffo once again coach the team. State loses 5-4, but looked good enough to get Ron to go on a 20 minute rant about how State would make a horrible mistake not hiring Raffo as coach. All this, while Greg Byrne is over in Pat Casey's office discussing the contract he'll sign with State (afterwards, MState is getting beat 20-2 in the elimination game).

KB21 gets word about Byrne and Casey, and makes a 5,000 word post on Genespage about how great Coach Polk and Coach Raffo are, and how hiring Casey will be a huge mistake. The Cigar Boys, threatened by this attempt by Byrne to raise MState up from the mediocre level they've enjoyed for years, suddenly cut off Byrne at the knees. Word gets out that they'll cut off funding to the Athletic Department if Byrne is AD after July 1.

Disgusted, Greg Byrne decides to just quit as AD (I'm not sure if there's a contract signed just yet). Ole Miss, interested in getting a better Athletic Director, suddenly fires Pete Boone and hires Byrne as THEIR AD. Byrne, very motivated to move the Rebels to the next Level, infuses the Athletic Department with excitement and energy. This leads to a brand new basketball practice facility, a state-of-the-art 15,000 seat basketball arena (complete with luxury boxes, wet bars, and VIP lounges where Loyalty Club members can snort coke off stripper's tits), bowling in Vaught-Hemingway, and paying off the expansion of Swayze Field. This excitement causes Ole Miss to become the main university in the State once again.

In the meantime, MState is desperate to get a new AD. Larry Templeton, after talking to "Mother" (like Tony Perkins did in "Psycho"), signs a new 4 year contract. His first order of business is re-hire Ron Polk, cut Rick Stansbury's salary in half. In the meatime, the first team offensive line is busted for running a meth lab out of Arbour Acres.

All this because MState wins their first SEC series. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
