  • Field goal kicking game is very consistent. Definitely a plus this year and feel confident we will make most attempts. Not sure if Felkin is NFL caliper but his stock is way up transferring to a school with big TV exposure.

  • Allar runs were very productive again. I wish I could say he needs to slide feet first into a tackle but he is so tall I am not sure he is easily capable of doing that. Hopefully his shoulder shot is not too serious.

  • Dixon is constantly getting out of position for the slant pass. He was praised by Franklin during the press conference for his performance, but re-watch some of the game and there were at least 3 nice gains by Rutgers where Dixon allowed the receiver to get inside position.

  • Thank God for the defense. Love to watch them on the field.

  • Pribula’s 2 QB sneaks back to back calls were absolutely horrible. Those plays never should have been called back to back with the talent we have in the backfield. Loved the fumble to himself and score. IMHO I think the staff should have called at least 50% passing plays for him. Simple stuff with high success. Game was well under control and this would keep other teams somewhat honest to defend against the pass, especially if he is starting next week. Now his running did open up things for Singleton which was good., but one hit and not only do we relive the “Zach Mills” thing again but who is our 3rd string QB?

  • Lambert-Smith did not have a pass reception at all yesterday. Senior day I wish he would have had big day. Passing game is a big mess and mystery.

  • I bitched about this a few weeks again. Fielding punts (or lack of) cost us to work basically out of the end zone on that one drive. That punts was easily catch-able but he let it bounce again.
  • Hope everyone has a blessed and fun Thanksgiving.

I think that some plays would be successful if they practiced them during the week. That did not see to be the case for several of them.

I know the Shove/Push/Whatever is currently en vogue across the country but I would have preferred to see something from that full house formation that was successful when used later in short yardage. There are many more variations out of that set for which the D will need to account.

WR play this year, combined with inconsistency from Allar and confusing offensive playcalling overall, has made for an absolute dumpster fire on offense. The WR's in particular just look completely lost. I am sure it is some combination of poor talent evaluation, poor coaching, poor attitudes, and poor development - but I can't believe the staff whiffed on this many 4* prospects(there are seven 4* WRs on our roster and WR is one of the few postions a decent freshman can make an impact). And I've heard the WR room is full of guys who don't know the playbook and don't care to learn. If so, remove them from the roster. Done and done. Let them get on with whatever it is they are passionate about. It's clearly not football.

Our WR1 has 1 reception for 6 yards in the last two games. We HAVE to get him the ball.

Felkins wasn't that good at Columbia. I'm amazed how well he's done.

Agree on Pribula's QB sneaks. He's a good elusive runner but not a power runner. To make matters worse he had Singleton & Allen lined up behind him. They aren't the strongest pushers. Seems to me we should have given it to Allen with Warren as an added blocker or to push from behind.

KLS is either injured or in the dog house. What other possible explanation?

Thought the same thing on Dixon, but it seems like he had "outside technique" on those plays. I wondered if it was a slow drop by the linebacker or just one of those plays that is tough to stop in that specific defensive scheme.

Some of mine:
Clifford and Evans each made a pretty big catch in the first half. Not sure why we didn't see more of them. Maybe next week?

Happy Singleton was given some outside or "bounce" runs in the 2nd half. I thought he ran harder, quicker than he did in earlier games.

Wish the RB rotation wasn't so pre-determined. Would like to see Allen and Singleton rotate within some drives.

Chop Robinson is really fun to watch.

Thought the defense made some great adjustments to take away what hurt them in the first drive.

High percentage pass plays would help both quarterbacks. They are both still young quarterbacks.

I know he dropped a 3rd down pass early, but I like when the ball is thrown to Tyler Warren.

I'll be interested to watch the offense (preparation & play calling) on Friday. It has to be a relief/benefit to get that first game under their belt.

I respectfully disagree with psuro's comment on the Rutgers uniform selection. White jerseys, scarlet pants and a scarlet helmet, now that's a combination! :)

I think several posters hit it on the head last week. Expect Rutgers to hang in until half. Combination of Michigan hangover and Rutgers lack of depth behind some very good first line defensive players.

The punting is an issue everywhere. Most returners just let it bounce or fair catch wherever they are on the field. I don’t think they want to get hit and fumble. I don’t blame them. I just think the punters have gotten really really good at pinning their punts. Not much you can do.

Running Allar through the middle of the field consistently is just stupid.....as has been demonstrated the past two weeks. If PSU rolls him out the back side off miss direction .....he would have a better chance of not getting killed.

I’d like to have Trey Potts see a little more action. He was a big-time back at Minny and has played well whenever he’s been on the field this year.

AND

Not having Pribula see the field against tOSU and UMich is simply a terrible boner by Franklin.

And Hardy was a late addition as a returner. He seems to be a high risk/high reward guy. We’ve had other returners who were much more sure handed and smarter about catching the ball, but had zero chance for a big return. I guess you take the bad with the good.
