First of all, let me say that I have been coming to USC games since the early 70's. Yes I have seen a lot of football. Good, bad and ugly. But I try to cherish the good ones and the special moments. I have always felt for some reason the special magic of playing at Williams Brice at night. So many memorable games. Southern Cal at night when Joe Morrison and the boys took down the mighty trojans. Beating Georgia at night, beating Clemson at night on several occasions. Conner Shaw, Alshon Jeffrey and the boys. Of course, the Tennessee game where the traveling show with Paul Finebaum and all the national media. Noone in the universe called earth gave USC a chance to win that game. All Tennessee had to do was win that game and Vanderbilt the following week and they were in the CFP. I remember a female caller called in on the Paul Finebaum show and said it was going to be a bloodbath in Williams Brice. Well one thing for sure she was right Spencer Rattler, and the USC defense beat the crap out of Tennessee and needless to say that game ended UT's chances of making the cfp.
Of course, the game Saturday night Texas A&M was the only undefeated team in the SEC and all they had to do was win that game and basically, they were in the SEC championship game in Atlanta. As Paul Harvey would say you know the rest of the story. Now Texas A&M must win the final 3 games and of course the last game will be against Texas at Texas A&M at Kyle field. As I was leaving the stadium a Texas A&M fan spoke to me briefly. I promise he told me " I have a friend who is a big Tennessee fan told me briefly, "I don't know what it is about playing South Carolina at Williams Brice stadium at night is something you better watch out for". The Texas A&M fan told me I really did not understand everything he was saying. From the pregame the atmosphere is "beyond special". Never been in an atmosphere like that. Lastly as he was walking off, he told me "I understand what my Tennessee friend told me. Anyway, he congratulated me, and I wished Texas A&M the best in their last 3 games. I know I have missed out on so many special games played at nighttime at Williams Brice but Saturday night was truly special as all the others, but the Tennessee game has to be my number 1 nighttime game at Williams Brice Stadium.
