This is also why you don't fire a coach off consistently. If you look at most places once a coach is able to build a program they have sustained success. There will be down years but overall you see improvements. Now that being said. I do agree with letting Zach Arnett go was the right move. I was iffy with Joe Moorhead but after his last few games I was ready for a change. I want changes to some coaches on staff but I am currently good with Lebby.

I don’t want Lebby fired either, but he’s got to throw fans a bone, and even his biggest supporters have to admit that it’s been one giant nothing burger so far this year. Zero meaningful win, zero staff changes, and very marginal recruiting success.

I like what I’m seeing out of Van Buren and we’ve got a couple playmakers on offense, but this man is at the helm of an SEC program, and when you’re 1-7, I need more than that to give me confidence that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now, his gage is a lot closer to “I have no idea what I’m doing” than anything positive

I am certainly not wowed by Lebby but I would agree he hasn't shown he was worthless.

It was pretty clear after year two Moorhead was incapable. Looked like it after year one, but it wasn't certain.

I don't think Arnett is incapable of being a head coach. He just put him self in a position that he couldn't recover from.

Lebby doesn't look great right now, but he came into a not easy situation and there has been some promise shown on offense even if it's largely after teams have a lead and let down their intensity. He just needs to show improvement next year, and the easiest way to do that is to move the defensive side of the ball from horrendous to slightly below average. If he does that by getting a competent DC and then he makes some improvement in play calling while upgrading some talent, I'll be fine with that even if that likely just gets us to the 6-6 range next year.

"Not easy" is an understatement. Lebby stepped into a terrible situation. I've said from the beginning, I'm not too concerned about the offense. It's struggling at times this year, but like you say does show some promise. I expect we'll be better offensively next year. Defense has been even worse than I thought it would be. A lot worse. And I thought it would be terrible.

6-6 next year will take a near miracle. Schedule is maybe even tougher than this year. We get Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee & Texas at home. And at Arkansas, Florida, Missouri and Texas A&M. Plus OOC home games vs Arizona St. (beat us badly) and NIU (beat Notre Dame) and a road game at an in-state team. If Lebby can win 6 games with that schedule, he deserves SEC coach of the year. Improvement will be measured more in terms of how we look and how competitive we are in our losses. Cause more than 4 wins is hard to see.

The only way to accomplish that is to invest heavily in the Offensive Line and the Defensive Line in the portal IMO. Should have been done this year.

Agree with every bit of that.
