some people are reading into this commitment, and I can see why, as a sign that transfer Aneesah Morrow will sign with LSU. LSU will be have an amazing squad next year with her also in the mix.

We might be the hunter this year against LSU, but I think we'll put a pretty darn good product on the court. Should have a very athletic squad in my opinion.

I agree. Some folks think we don.t have enough left over after this years seniors. Watkins, Kitts. Fagin, Johnson got enough experience to know how to play. The crew that left came in an played as freshmen so our girls now are more ready than they were. Staley will have them ready. Remember name of the game is DEFENSE. As others has said only one basket ball per team and that belongs to Angel so USC will still take LSU. Will be interesting to see if sulky Mulky can get them to play together. All that Nile money don't make LSU better than our Gamecocks just richer. An OLD man that loves the Gamecocks

I agree, the name of the game is defense. LSU looks good on paper, but with the addition of offensive personnel does not speak for their defense. LSU was not a great defensive team in the past. One basketball, someone shots will decrease and playing time will be limited. The SEC still belongs to South Carolina.

Our girls aren't exactly having to bag groceries for lunch money. Our university and the guys on the site we are posting on, among others, are continuing to build a NIL program. Mulky may win more championships at LSU but I'm not ready to concede the rest of this decade to her. No one automatically wins in real life just because of what is on a roster sheet. What say you Buffalo Bills or half the teams Lebron has played for in the last decade..

We can’t have weakness at any position because LSU won’t. Louisville transfer can shoot the lights out from anywhere. And I don’t know about that. Our defense was great - we needed more reliable offense imo.

I think we are going to have an awesome team. The quality of our recruiting over the last few years has been second to none starting in 2019. I think it’s good that LSU is doing well, and Ole Miss too. It was fun being the biggest dog in the yard for four years. No reason we can’t continue that. Nobody has a Watkins that I know of, or a Cardoso. We’ve got a team full of All Americans. We’ve been spoiled. Why in the heck would we concede anything to anybody? I don’t care what the writers or any rabid fan base or any anti-USC media say. I guarantee Dawn ain’t backing down. BTW, when was the last time we lost to LSU?

Changing the theme of the thread somewhat, LSU's national title this season reminds me of ours in 2017, when Ole Miss State beat Connecticut in the "other semi-final game.

2023-2024 should be another great year for basketball. And hope for marked improvement in men's basketball too,

We have a 13 game winning streak against LSU. The last time we lost to them was 2011-12 season.

They have weaknesses like everybody else. They are going to be inexperienced at the PG position and C position. Outside of their freshman center they will be undersized in that position. Also 2 of their biggest stars on their team play the same position. So they'll still need to figure out how to navigate that and still remain productive.

Right now our weakness is inexperience not talent. We're loaded with talent at every position. We'll be literally two deep at every position with McDonald All Americans.

Our starting lineup, assuming it's Cardoso, PaoPao, Feagin, Raven, Breezy -- were ranked #5, #11, #4, #2, #14 respectively (per ESPN) -- coming out of high school.

The only players who were not 5 star recruits are Sahnya Jah and Sakima Walker, both 4 stars. That's a loaded roster, top to bottom. No other Gamecock coach, in any sport, has come close to recruiting at this level.

Coach still has spots she could fill, but I hope she keeps the roster as it is. I know fans loved the 3 stars coming in late in the game, but tbh those are wasted minutes we could be developing players who could potentially make an impact in the future.

Our lowest ranked player coming out of high school. As far as the level of competition, her team won the high school national championship.

I kinda hope so too. 12 seems like a perfect number and the distribution of minutes should keep the players happy as well.

I saw this as well. I wonder whose she talking about. I kind of like sticking to 12 but hey I don't get paid bucks to make it work. If Dawn and company likes it I'm all in.
I have no idea. I like where we are too.

Thinking this through….
Another JUCO?
Portal closes May 11, maybe a surprise late entrant?
Class of 24?
Or class of 24 who is reclassifying?

She was talking about Morrow, I assumed. Walker committed before Morrow announced. Basically saying they wanted Morrow to commit as well; Sakima is not afraid of competition

Not sure. Word had leaked that Morrow had cancelled her visit to SC. Everyone had to know she wasn't going to commit without a visit.

Walker and Diamond Johnson were freshman teammates at Rutgers. We recruited Diamond out of high school. She liked this tweet about Walker signing here.

I haven't heard that we are recruiting her now. So maybe Sakima's mother is hoping we offer Johnson. I'm sure she has had plenty of offers. For some reason she is waiting.
