some folks seem to think this is great (or necessary) for the sport. I've always been upfront that I don't share that opinion. (I love PA's States, but have almost no interest in PA's team dual championships.)

Below is an article about some recent thoughts and/or actions on the subject on the D1 collegiate level

Don’t like the idea of a dual championship. Smaller programs will never have a chance to get any publicity. With the individual tourney, a small school can at least get some cred with an AA here and there.

Which will get schools like Rider, South Dakota State, Northern Colorado, and Princeton more traction? Getting thumped in the first round of a Duals Tournament or having Dellavecchia, Sloan, Alirez, and Glory finishing first or second in the current Championships? Even getting an AA for a small program carries a lot of weight with recruiting. Getting squashed like a bug in the first round of a dual tournament, not so much. Anything that takes away from the current national tournament will hurt everyone but the handfull of top dogs. The NCAA should be focused on helping the small programs, not running them off.

There are only two positives I can see for this. First, the team champion will not be decided until the last day of competition. Second, this could increase TV exposure, which in turn should grow the sport.

My opinion on TV coverage .ESPN has too much b.sing. Cover the hole screen with former wrestlers pictures while there are matches going on. I tune in to watch live wrestling. Don't have internet service in my area and can't stream. So half the time I record it so I can skip the b.s.Still there's a lot of matches that could be shown.

If after the Individual tourney, no one will want to participate. If before, seeding and injury concerns will dilute it greatly. I vote “no”; let those that want to go to an “invitational” dual tournament early in the season
