Just read about this change that was approved last month. Had not previously heard about it. Was previously limited to 5 visits. Most coaches seem not be in favor.

Seems kind of weird to go from 5 to unlimited.

Are there limits on how many official visits a school can conduct in a given year? If not, there needs to be. In that case, lower profile schools would get the "opportunity" to entertain higher-rated prospects who enjoy having themselves and their accompanying family members feted.

Not sure about the schools. A recruit is limited to one official per school unless there's a coaching change.

From the article below:

"The NCAA did not detail in the press release whether schools are still limited as to the number of total official visits they can offer."

I don't know of any limit on the number of OVs can school can host in total. Just staying with the one per player for football because that wasn't addressed in the NCAA changes.

The lower level schools need to use their recruiting budget wisely even now. I don't think they have the money to host guys and their families that are likely not to consider their school.

I initially read about the rule change in article where Beamer said he is doing away with midweek official visits. Said they've had "zero luck" with those. If a kid only wants to do a midweek official, Beamer is telling them "no thanks, you have to come on a weekend."

Schools still have their same limit on the number they can host - this only relates to number kids can take.

Basically the NCAA is trying to remove any limits on the kids because they don’t want to be seen as restricting the athlete’s movement and/or earning potential because they’ll just get sued again.

So basically, there will still have to be a winnowing-out process somehow. I don't see UConn wanting to spring for a visit from the #1 QB in America because that guy wants a nice weekend trip or his mom's grandmother lives near there.

Do you see where the number of visits for the school stay the same? From what I could find, the NCAA did not specify if the school's limit would be unchanged or not.

Just a different article a while back. Schools are still limited to 56 I believe. So this shouldn’t change things up too much and just makes the DI rule line up with DII and DIII (who have always had unlimited visits).

Just additional proof the NCAA is only an association that hands out trophies. They have no control and eventually the 2 megaconferences will write their own rules for recruiting, NILs, etc.
