The first two games, (11) Pitt-(3) Xavier, at 12:10, and (6) Kentucky-(3) Kansas State, at 2:40, should be good games.

I’m grateful for the PSU run but life goes on.

Boy, Duke and Kansas are wondering what today would be like if they’d made their free throws.

Some other BWI poster said something like this ... fundamentals ... make your layups, make your free throws. Couldn't agree more with him.

I remember watching a UCLA practice session over at Georgetown during my college days. Two things stuck out ...(1) layups ... team ran through layups from the left with manager counting how many they made in a row, first miss, the guy had to do that many laps, then they switched to the right. (2) Free throws, platers took turns making one free throw after the other, same thing, first miss had to do that many laps. If no misses occurred they'd stop after making 30 to 50 in a row. I guess that's partially why UCLA was so dominating under Wooden.

Oh, I read in Tom McMillen’s Wiki page that Wooden badly wanted McMillen, and when he signed with Maryland Wooden got Bill Walton as a consolation prize. My four best college players, not ordered: Bias, Durrett, Walton, David Thompson.

with the NCAA Wrestling Championships being staged the past 3 days, I've seen very little MBB.

The Kansas State - Kentucky game coming down to the end right now is just a joy to watch.

The first 30 minutes of the game were pretty rough. The two teams were something like 3/26 from 3 at one point.

I’ve seen enough: K State moves on.

Marquette - MSU is like a rock-em-sock-em robots competition. Both teams are going at it hard, trying for fast breaks whenever they can, and busting their butts to get back on defense.

With 6:33 left, it's 50-45, MSU, and MUS is at the charity stripe, shooting 2

Yeah, it’s a good game. Marquette seems to be more talented but MSU is just relentless.

(7) Michigan State 52-49 (2) Marquette at 5:10.

Rooting for Marquette. Marquette G Stevie Mitchell is a local kid. Easy kid to root for. 4.0 GPA, good kid, dad's a doctor and mom is a chemist (I believe).

Michigan State will move on, Marquette goes home.

Creighton is up early on Baylor.

Final: 69-60, MSU

MSU's D was too much for Marquette, though Marquette missed some 3s down the stretch where they had excellent looks.
Yeah, Marquette had more than a few really good looks from the corners, you need to make those.

The predictability of college basketball is long gone. Teams have traded in the dominant post presence for the run n gun player who can hit the 3, maybe snatch a rebound or two and fill up arenas. The days of Patrick Ewing, Shaquille O’Neal, David Robinson are gone. Back in the day you could almost guarantee which six teams would make it to the elite 8.

Creighton is about to defeat Baylor.

Would have been great if FAU didn’t have to play FDU so early. FAU can play btw.

I have to say that Matt Painter diagraming a play down 5 with two seconds left was one of the most surreal moments I’ve ever seen.

It was the old “3 pter get fouled miss the free throw but tip it in for overtime” play.

Not to be confused with:

The old “3 pter get fouled miss the free throw but tip it out for another 3 pter for the win” play.
