What does the portal even matter if guys can quit on a team 2 weeks before the season starts and go somewhere else?

How did that happen if thebportal wasn't open? Or was it?

As far as I know there is only the December portal and the April portal.

I don't understand how Huggins-Bruce could just up and leave for Louisville.

If they also included a limit of 2 transfers, that would be significant.

It's a sad commentary when we see a limit of 2 transfers as being reasonable, lol. How times have changed.

I do think they should create a rule than you cannot transfer to a team your former team is scheduled to play the next season.

That's just a common-sense thing since a player is taking substantial knowledge of team plays and defensive information with them.

Right. And as long as tampering is going to be allowed, it seems only logical to throw some kind of restraints up.

As to the number of transfers, that was an agreement reached with the DOJ, so I don't see them ever reversing course on that. Unfortunately.

I guess the only way we'll ever get any restraints is for players to become employees and unionize and then there can be a collective bargaining agreement.

Incremental changes that become the norm and progress from there is how we got where we are as a country today. Some good but mostly bad.

Crazy thing to me is how almost nobody will speak up on the runaway situation with NIL and the portal. Coaches won't say anything much derogatory against NIL or the portal because they're afraid it'll hurt them in recruiting. None of the talking heads will say a thing that any of the current situation is bad for the game. Nobody wants to offend the players. A bunch of grown men kowtowing to high schoolers.

You're right. But that has become the norm in America as fear is controlling free speech in all aspects of life.

If nothing else, it is a start.

College football may eliminate spring transfer portal: report

We could see the end of the spring transfer portal in college football as the NCAA is reportedly considering the decision.

The less portal, the better.

The less the transfers, the better.

The Supreme Court set the table for this. Any rule that limits the player’s freedom of movement or limits opportunity to make money will be legally frowned upon.

I think Huggins-Bruce is a graduate and I believe those guys can do what they want.

I don't think so. He was class of 2021, so unless he graduated in 3 years, I don't think he'd be a graduate. Can't see anywhere that says he graduated.

I just want someone to explain how he was able to quit and change schools with no portal open. lol He was a 2021enrollee at Louisville, so I don't think he's a graduate.

Even if he were a graduate, does that mean you can just pick up and change schools whenever you want?
Plan to wait a while for that explanation.

I think the NCAA could enact some...very few...restrictions that would avoid legal scrutiny. One I mentioned above would be not allowing a player to transfer to a team that their former team is scheduled to play the following season. That's just a common sense one to me.
