...or not.

- Wade gets a 10 game suspension since he is now the coach at McNeese State.
- 2 year show cause order for Wade...who is again a coach at McNeese State now. This means he cant recruit during certain specified months and has to sit some games.
- LSU basketball wont be further penalized(they self imposed some meaningless stuff early on to avoid penalty now).

A 'show cause order' used to mean a coach was 17ed and not hirable because schools wouldnt touch the coach and didnt want to deal with the fact that the coach wouldnt even be able to coach for X% of the season or recruit.
Apparently that doesnt matter now and McNeese DGA17. McNeese needs to change their name to the HoneyBadgers.

I think the only remaining 'case' to still hear about from this joke of an investigation dating back like 5 years is Kansas.
It isnt really a show cause penalty if a totally new program is willing to just absorb the hit and keep going with the coach. Thats a slap on the wrist.

And LSU football has to pretend that they didn’t win a bunch of games that they did in fact win.

it’s been said a million times, but there is absolutely no reason to pay attention to the NCAA rules anymore

One side effect is Les Miles is now ineligible for the College Football Hall of Fame due to the vacated wins. Other than that, there are about zero consequences.

I feel like a show cause is only useful if the coach is still at the offending university. It gives the university an easy out without paying the buyout and then no one is going to hire them until it's over.

This case drug on several years too long. Wade was fired and rehired before anything came down. I don't blame McNeese st. They probably figured the NCAA wasn't going to move on the case. Now that he's there they might as well weather the storm and get the benefits.

it is of absolutely no significance to LSU, yeah they lost their coach but that was going to happen the minute the show cause came down. Now they are years passed it and into the rebuild. Had they hung on to him, they might have won a little more (there was still the cloud hanging) but then they'd be starting the rebuild now after having the cloud for several years.

A lot of similarities to the final years of Jackie, only we held on. The cloud of an investigation (mixed with the Arizona western fiasco) set us back a decade. IMO, it would have been better to cut ties and move on 1-2 years earlier. I understand why we didn't (especially considering Larry was at the helm) but all the signs were there to cut bait.

TLDR; - the NCAA once again shows they are worthless and neither LSU nor McNeese St will suffer any meaningful pain.
