It has wild swings until you get into conference play. Our net is falling precipitously. What gives?

And barely win or lose to them while you're at itDon’t play Swac schools.
Iowa State is currently 3rd in the Top25 rankings and 9th in NET(per Nolan). It fell after our win Sunday. Prairie View is one of the worst schools in Division one. A net in the mid 300s. No reason for a program where we are with multiple tournament bids in a row to ever schedule a team like that. Just really bad scheduling.
The bitching about playing SWAC teams is really pointless. Literally every power conference team plays games like these against 300+ NET schools. You have to fill out a schedule.Iowa State is currently 3rd in the Top25 rankings and 9th in NET(per Nolan).
They finished last year ranked 7th and were a 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament that made the Sweet16. The year before they were a 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The year before that they finished ranked 23rd and made it to the Sweet16.
So 2 Sweet 16 appearances in the last 3 seasons, ranked 7th last year, and currently ranked 3rd.
- They opened this season by playing Mississippi Valley State, whose NET is 364.
- They then played UMKC whose NET is 314.
- After that they played UI Indianapolis, whose NET is currently 321.
- This past Sunday they then played Jackson State, whose NET is 341.
- They will also play U Omaha with a 279 NET and Morgan State with a 357 NET, before starting Big12 play.
Thats 5 games against teams ranked in the NET 300s.
I think MSU should schedule fewer Q4 games and add some Q3 games, but it is difficult to predict if a team will be a Q3 or Q4 when schedules and playing agreements are made a year or more in advance.
The reason why Iowa State is currently 9th in NET, even though 4 of their 8 games have been against teams with a NET 300 or worse ranking, is because they offset those with neutral court wins against NET 1 Auburn, NET 39 Dayton, NET 84 Colorado, and then got a home win against NET 6 Marquette.
Ehhhh..........not quiteThe reason why Iowa State is currently 9th in NET, even though 4 of their 8 games have been against teams with a NET 300 or worse ranking, is because they offset those with neutral court wins against NET 1 Auburn, NET 39 Dayton, NET 84 Colorado, and then got a home win against NET 6 Marquette.
I pulled this off WarrenNolan's site. Is this an instance where NET rankings conflict?Ehhhh..........not quite

Regardless, ISU beat a really highly NET rated Auburn team which was the point- a highly ranked team also plays low NET games, and those are offset by high NET games.
If this is an instance of NET rankings conflicting between sites, I would be interested to know what is more accurate. I just assumed WarrenNolan would have accurate info since the site has historically been a deep dive of advanced metrics(as advanced as CBB has allowed with stat tracking). But I definitely dont keep up on where may be better.

Oh yeah, my memory sucks. And here I thought the issue was using a website with poor metrics or something.Iowa State didn't beat Auburn dubmass.
As it currently stands we have 13 more Q1 games on our schedule. And half a dozen Q2. Our resume will be perfectly fine as long as we don’t have a very poor SEC record. Our NET will be in great shape as long as we are competitive in SEC play.
I thought this was going to be about Sandra Bullock.
