Wait….they gained 19 million subscribers in q4 and they respond by raising prices? Am I missing something? It’s working. Quit messing around with it.

Is that too many subscribers? Are they intentionally trying to run some off?

I guess they assume the amount that cancel will be less than the increased revenue? Seems odd to me as well.

After hours stock is up 15%. Hit a triple top recently at $940 but currently at $993. Will be interesting to see if it can close that high tomorrow.

We cancelled. Don't use it very often and I have plenty of other ways to watch NFL.

Looks like Netflix is on the chopping block. Just cut Max. No football means Hulu live is on the clock.
Every year after the conclusion of March Madness I usually cut ties with Hulu. Sometime I’ll keep it for the NBA playoffs, depends on the year and how well my team is doing. Saves a decent amount of money until September rolls back around

They will keep raising rates. All these type of services are trying to find the maximum people will pay. They are still priced at the point where most people won’t take the time to cancel. Most will get mad but forget to cancel and won’t think about it again until the next price increase.

I use Netflix maybe 1 month per year. Canceled mine a few days ago.

I actually use it a lot. Old series on other channels that I never saw I get to watch. Paramount Plus will not go away for me as well.

It's quickly become the same complaint as cable- 'why am I paying for sports if I don't watch it?' or 'I don't want to have to pay for Oxygen and Hallmark Channel because I am a man!'.

This is Netflix...
I don't want to pay for WWE.
I don't want to pay for a giant douche to beat up an old man.
I don't want to pay for NFL games.

But I can't selectively pay...just like what annoyed so many about cable.

Im pretty sure that Netflix doesn't do this but if you call the other streaming companies and tell them you want to cancel your sub they will massively reduce your price for six months. I called Max last month after the Penguin went off and they cut my sub in half for six months. in turn I also called Hullu and Peacock and i am now paying $2.99 for Hulu and $1.99 for Peacock. Oh yeah, i am also paying $.99 a month for Starz which just goes to show how much they think of their channel.

We don't watch it a whole lot so I decided to do the plan that has the ads. Saves me $200+ a year

From the beginning i said streaming would eventually be on par with cable, cost wise.

Although folks complain about high prices, low wages, etc., few are slowing down spending money. Tonight, even as cold as it is, restaurants in Flowood will likely be near capacity. When we travel, everything is full, planes, trains, automobiles, restaurants, shops, etc.

So, the standard plan w/o ads moved up to $18/mth from $15.50/mth for a “whopping” $2.50/mth increase.

Have y’all been to a movie with your spouse lately and bought 2 bottles of water and 1 popcorn? That will run you $35-$40.

Have u driven to watch 1 NFL game with your spouse and stayed one night in a hotel? That would run you $600-$700.

Netflix could move to $50/mth and it would still be a bargain.

I actually like Paramount plus better than Netflix.
I've never had paramount plus - what do you like about it better? I know yellowstone and the new Billy Bob joint are on there, but that's about all I know about it.

Live CBS. I like that about Paramount and Peacock (NBC).

That's about it though. I know you can probably get the local channels through an HD antenna or some shlt, but I've never 17ed with that.

Anyone that pays for a bunch of different streaming packages so they can watch every show on cable, their wife can watch all of hers and the kids all theirs should expect to pay the same, or more. It's like building a car piece by piece from the auto parts stores and the dealer and paying somebody to put it all together for you. Its way more expensive to do that than buy it assembled from the dealer.

They should also admit a tv addiction with too much time on their hands

Nothing I can put my finger on. I just generally find myself watching more content there than other streaming services.
