New CFP expansion vote coming Friday---could happen as early as 2024

I overheard on the Radio that they want to expand to 12 teams. I feel like that is to much and it will make regular season games less meaningful. If you are going to expand I would say 8. But really 4 is enough.

Which begs the question: who would be pushing for 12, which would require byes?

No no no no no no no no no no to 12 teams that would give 4 teams an incredibly unfair advantage by giving them a bye. Go to either 8 or 16, but the idea that 4 teams (probably 3 from the SEC) can sit home with zero chance of losing or risk of injuries while the other 8 teams have to play in a win or go home against a quality opponent is absurd.

Look no further than the NCAA ball tournament each year where a supposed panel of "experts" picks the top 4 teams, yet I don't believe there has ever been a time where all four #1 ranked seeds have ever made it to the final 4.

Advance to the next round by winning on the field against a quality opponent. The idea that 4 teams heavily influenced by the "eye test" of Herbie and the boys at ESPN get to sit home while 8 other teams put it all on the line is absurd.

I think there should be a 16 team playoff. All eleven division 1a champions get an automatic bid and then the five highest ranked teams that are not a conference champion. Seed the teams and start the first week of December with the higher seeded team playing in their home stadium to guarantee a sell out for all games. Eight games week one, four games week two and two games week three. The school payout will depend on how far that schools team advances. Each win gets a bigger piece of the pie. Have the championship game on at 5pm EST on New Years day. Have it rotate with the traditional New Years day bowls. I think you would then have a true champion that would be hard to dispute their legitimacy.

I know some will argue that not all the D1 conference champions deserve to go but if they are designated as D1 and it is a D1 championship, they have every right. It might give a new perspective to conference realignment and where some of the more talented kids decide to go to school.

The home game component and use the bowl locations in semis and finals to kick things off is key to this imho and I like it.

I don't care as long as there's a college playoff. More games for me to consume! The players are allowed to get compensated now so give them more opportunities to make some .
