I was there. I like the choo-choo. Everything else about us: 2001, Step to the Rear, Sandstorm, all are purloined. We are laughably unoriginal. Keep the choo-choo. Throw the rest of the crap out. Does Purdue already have a choo-choo they bring out on the field? If so, throw the choo-choo out, too.
So we ARE original! YES!!Does any other program make as big a deal over someone in a mascot suit as Carolina does?
Well, there you go. Throw out the choo-choo. Just something else we appropriated from people more original than we.![]()
Appears they do. Although just the engine. I do think if we keep the train, we need to do more to hide the wheels.
I’m sure this is here to stay. Wasn’t there in person, but if anything comes of this it’s at least getting rid of the old Cocky entrance. But I’m not sure why Cocky has to make an entrance.
But wait….ours has a cockaboose attached to it. GAME ON!!!Well, there you go. Throw out the choo-choo. Just something else we appropriated from people more original than we.
Throw out everything we have co-opted.But wait….ours has a cockaboose attached to it. GAME ON!!!
It would be cool to let people bid on being able to ride in the cockaboose during the entrance. Proceeds go to NIL.
Nvm video below shows it didn’t see it in the first videoBut wait….ours has a cockaboose attached to it. GAME ON!!!

And, they kept the magic aspect. Cocky runs through the tunnel then MAGICALLY appears on top of the cockaboose.Nvm video below shows it didn’t see it in the first video
That Vietcong tunnel under the stadium is something else isn’t it.And, they kept the magic aspect. Cocky runs through the tunnel then MAGICALLY appears on top of the cockaboose.
Agree. It’s entertainment. We’ve done a helluva job on the GameDay environment. And now we’re packing the place to watch FCS games. All games except the SCST game last year was sold out, and that one wasn’t bc of a hurricane. The new entrance is awesome, and ties some actual unique tradition to it with the cockaboose.I like the Magic Box but I’m ok if they change it. I was a freshman in the band in ‘85, a year after the Black Magic season of ‘84 and just a few years after 2001 became a part of the pre-game. In ‘86 or ‘87 an SI writer did a piece on 2001 and the wild environment at Williams-Brice. ESPN played it up big when we played Clemson in ‘87. After the pre-game of the 2013 game against Clemson and during Sandstorm the commentator said , “ this place is going nuts.” At the UGA game last year the Georgia fan beside me said after 2001, “ I’m jacked up for you and I’m not a Gamecock, got goosebumps.” Go back and listen to Herbstreet at the Tennessee game, “ I haven’t been here in a while…. This is great.” Traditions are special when they are yours, like that stupid pickle hang on Christmas Trees now, but things become a part of your tradition and they stick. I’ve been to games at Clemson, UGA, Tennessee, FSU and others. Nothing gets you pumped up like a big night game at Willy B with all the hoopla and the events that build and build the excitement level. Forgive me for the long post but some of you saying you want to dump it all is like mom saying, “we are having tofu for Thanksgiving this year.”
