a story published Monday afternoon, Forde broke new details including Bohannon’s relationship with Bert Eugene Neff Jr., the Indiana travel ball coach and former collegiate pitcher that placed a $100,000 wager on LSU to beat the Tide.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission, the NCAA, the Southeastern Conference Alabama and LSU were among the entities that launched an investigation into the matter. In the NCAA’s dealings, Forde was less sure if the University of Alabama will be punished for Bohannon’s actions.

Neff reportedly was texting with Bohannon as he entered the BetMGM Sportsbook at Great American Ballpark. Security cameras could make out Bohannon’s name on Neff’s phone. Neff also plead his case to employees at the sportsbook unsure of the atypical bet on a college baseball game by stating he had inside information. Hours before the Tide played No. 1 LSU, Alabama starter Luke Holman was scratched.

“It couldn’t have been any more reckless,” one source said.

“No, no, no. It’s ok if I make an extra large bet. I know a secret. I want to take as much money from your casino as possible.”

Does he think the casino wants to pay out money?

I'm in no way defending Bohannon, but was he in on the wager or was he just talking to a dude without knowledge of what the guy was doing with the info? Gotta wonder how this guy put together $100k to make the bet.

The guy also had to be an all time idiot if the details of the wager are true. $100k on a single college baseball game? Of course they asked questions.

That takes an extreme leap of faith to think there's any way Bohanon didn't know what Neff was doing with that insider information. What college coach just randomly texts people with insider information that his starting pitcher is going to be scratched, even if he didn't know what he was placing bets. But per the article, he knew.
It’s unclear whether Bohannon was himself wagering on the game through Neff, but Bohannon knew what was transpiring. One of the people familiar with the investigation says Bohannon was part of an ongoing text chain with Neff and his gambling associates.

THE CASINO WAS ABLE TO ZOOM IN ON THE BAMA UNIVERSITY PHONE.
Well when you think about the amount of money at stake, casinos aren't going to stint on paying for top dollar equipment.

There were allegedly spy sats in the 80's that could make out headlines on papers people were reading on the ground. Not verified, of course, but I heard it from a guy who knew a guy so it's probably true.

Ok. I haven't even taken the time to read a single article so I'll go with you on this.

I didn't realize Bohannon had coached under both Cohen and Henderson at Kentucky. Maybe the traiter was in on the bet too.***

Not sure if it was intentional or not, but your second sentence is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the answer to your first sentence / question.

Damn, I knew they had the latest greatest tech gadgets in casinos but damn that's a good camera....
The best money can buy.
I'm sure the "return" on the investment for all that tech is very good for them.

As for Bohannon, sounds like a forever ban situation. He'll be lucky to coach T-ball in Venezuela after this.
