Apparently there have been two new NIL bills proposed (one in the House and one in the Senate) that give schools the ability to fund, create, and enable NIL opportunities for athletes. They also state that the schools do not have to disclose NIL agreements to the NCAA. It's about damn time!!

Wonder if that helps bring the collectives and the schools much closer in their working arrangement. Basically allowing the school to collect and steer the money from collectives, in addition to allowing the schools to fund their own.

If the NCAA was worth anything, they could still try to punish teams for breaking NCAA rules, even if not officially disclosed. But looking for action from the NCAA is laughable at this point.

Whatever system involves amassing and disbursing slush money will be a system in which we cannot excel. None of these proposals reflect what the court decision legalizing NIL was intended to allow.

No doubt. We end up on the losing end of this.

But it might be interesting to see if the schools could take more control of the collectives. And then maybe some of the "sec money" advantage might start to take affect too.

It’s nothing but positive for us to be able to do things other schools in other states can’t do. It gives us a better chance than the current scenario.

It won't work out that way. The core strength isn't there. If it were, we would have seen it already. We would have seen it a long time ago.

Besides, other schools in other states are going to do what they have to do. We aren't going to have an open field. But we will always be more of a Mississippi than a Texas.

I hope Beamer succeeds. But if Beamer fails, I hope that the hiring authorities will realize this and hire someone who has the coaching skills to close the gap between us and the Texas' of the college football world. As I've said before, we have never been and never will be a recruiting machine powerhouse. We had success when we had coaches like Jim Carlen, Joe Morrison, Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier. During their times here, they beat teams who were considered traditional "blue blood" programs, teams much more talented than us. The bottom line is that NIL is not our friend, and never will be.

The demographics don't favor us, either in terms of fanbase or alumni. I'm certain we have a lot of people who have done very well, but there are other schools that have that, PLUS multiple uber-rich people at their disposal.

I just think if we're able to utilize school funds, we're better off taking from, for example, the facilities budget and funneling to NIL. I also think it would easier to fundraise if it were attached to the AD. I think there are a lot of people, myself included, that would feel better about that donation than CR or GT...no offense to those two organizations. It would give a lot of credibility to the process.

Hire a relative of Darla to run the NIL program for the AD. lol

Whoever can figure out how to crack that nut will change the game forever.

I see Clemson had a big recruiting weekend and some say their have a silent commitment fro the #1 overall prospect for 2025, David Sanders from Charlotte. Could this be playing a role so early? The recruits are saying its because off testimony from current players and open Q&A with current players with no coaches around. I don't know who else uses this approach.
