Jody Wright expected to be named new South Carolina tight ends coach
Jody Wright is expected to be named South Carolina's new tight ends coach, Gamecock Central has learned. Wright replaces Erik Kimrey.
Hopefully Beamer knows something more about this individual that the official biography. Not much in there to get really excited about.Interesting pick.
Only positions he has ever coached were RB for one year at UAB and OL for one year at UAB. Spent a few years at Bama in an off-field capacity in player personnel. Last 2 years with the NY Giants, one as a defensive analyst and one as offensive analyst.

From the pictures I've seen, he smiles a lot. Maybe that goes a long way with Beamer.Looks like they were on staff together at MSU for a couple seasons.
Not being a downer, but I don't see anything in his coaching history that would indicate he can be a TE coach.

Right. Maybe he and Beamer ought to switch places.I love it. This is the type of guy we NEED SB to surround himself with.
6 years under Saban can't be replicated anywhere else...including the NFL. All coaching hires are gambles...this is one of the better kinds to make.
Alternatively, 6 years at Bama and Saban never put him in an on-field role.I love it. This is the type of guy we NEED SB to surround himself with.

I don’t think a TE coach is all that important, which is why I didn’t freak out when Kimrey left, like some other posters did. I just don’t see TE coach qualification from a guy who has mostly served in an off-field capacity.I guess you guys are expecting a 2-10 season with this new TE’s coach…
So far I haven't seen anyone being necessarily down on this hire, just don't see anything in his background that jumps out at you.You Debbie Downers need to give it a rest...
