Well, they look a little more "modern". Damn, it's sad when our band uniforms look better than our football and baseball uniforms.

Will they actually wear them if we have a September, nationally-televised game?

Very modern, very clean looking...

I dissagree with Flab also, They will wear them every game for the first year or so THEN back to the shorts and tees.

Dead serious, on a nationally televised game in summer that Navy was playing in, their band was wearing polos and shorts. I think people on this board have no real concept of how hot band uniforms get.

during the early part of the season. However, please explain to me why the opposing team's band seems to be able to deal with wearing their uniforms at the same games the FMB opts to wear mis-matches shorts and polos.</p>

I used to sit by the band and I never saw more than a few of them pass out. And I know a lot more than a few of them were liquored up the night before.

I've never been in a marching bang. But I like what they do and I appreciate the huge amount of time they put into it. The band is one of the things that makes college football better than everything else.

but if they never marched on the field at half time again it wouldn't bother me.

I for one, am sick our our Jackson Five medley we've been playing for ten years.

Well the FMB hasn't worn mismatched pants since the LSU game in Baton Rouge in 2006, and presumably never will again. The only time I remember an other band wearing full uniform while we didn't was Auburn in 2007 and South Carolina in 2006.

To several:

We're not the only band that wears shorts and t-shirts. I belive Ole Miss band did the same. Those uniforms are pretty damn hot. I lost 10 pounds after the Memphis game in 1997 and I'm not in that bad of shape. (Never passed out). Back in the day, the season used to start a little bit later than it does now, and I would venture to guess that the games were later with no JP 11:30 specials.

You can call me a ***** or whatever, but all I know is that we are starting to see more and more football players die due to heatstroke, and they are out there in t-shirts and football equipment which is much more designed for warm weather. It's about common sense. Ya'll are saying that you would rather the band look good and put people in a life threatening situation than have the band that ya'll supposedly don't give a damn about wear khaki pants and a polo shirt that matches. Band uniforms are designed for cold weather, which in the South means pretty much the Egg Bowl for us and maybe Arkansas.

The solution is for someone to come up with a band uniform that is more lightweight and breathes easier. But until someone does, stop bitching about the khaki shorts.
