Academic Complex. Shortly after 1:00p.m. on June 19, 2008 a flat bed trailer hauling pieces of the cement facade for the soon to be completed athletic academic complex at Mississippi State University broke free and barreled through the Sanderson Center parking lot eventually spilling its load and coming to rest in Bryan Lake. Fortunately, no vehicles, light poles, or people were in the behemoth's path. Construction experts well acquainted with this type of catastrophe are currently starring into the lake with puzzled expressions. A crane has been moved from the building site to aid in the removal of said trailer and stone.

Several eye witnesses claim to have seen a late model Buick, with cigar smoke billowing from the drivers side window, fleeing the scene.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Actually, the part about the trailer is true. The construction crew was disconnecting it from the truck that pulled it here when it broke loose. Apparently, the construction crew did not secure the trailer before unhooking it. It rolled through the parking lot and ended up in the lake. I was at the Sanderson Center when it happened, but as MSU's Finest were on the scene almost immediately, I couldn't get close enough to take a picture with my cell phone.

About 50 people gathered to watch the crane trying to remove the wreckage from the lake. Anyone care to confirm this accounting of the events?

of such typical, indian burial ground theory proving MState (and MState contractor) F-ups is an absolute must for the collection. It would fit right in with scoreboard mishap and deck mishap.

I just drove down the road by the Hump, and saw some flashing police lights in the parking lot across from the hump, figuring at first that someone did something stupid and was getting a ticket, then i noticed another one blocking the last two rows near the lake and a huge *** crane near the lake. So i pull in just to see what the commotion is, this was about 15 minutes ago and noone else was around minus the authoritative figures of the MSU police squad so I wasn't going down there..I see some guy pull up and start taking some pics for MSU, and the crane lines being drug back down the hill to the lake..
So I wait, suspecting some idiot had somehow driven in to the lake or something of the such.
Then i notice a smaller crane pick up some pieces and drive across to the construction site, Odd..what is going on??
So I drive down the back entrance trying to look across, since nothing else was going on once they stretched the lines back down the hill and everyone was just standing around with their arms crossed not doing anything, I could see some marks of some sort where you could see something had been pulled from the lake...but nothing looked to still be down there.

and wow, now i come home to find out what happened.
Truly M-Statetastic. If it can go wrong..it will.

I'm sure the laws of physics will keep it from moving. Thank goodness there were no cars at the end of the parking lot.
