GO STARS!! Nice win tonight to go up 2 games to zip on the Ducks.

..and as the players congratulated each other, I watch Trevor Daley kiss Mike Ribero on the helmet. WTF...Well, he's from Toronto. Not sure if that makes him French Canadian.

Winning the first two is big, but you can't count out Anaheim with Giguere in the net. Hopefully we can stay hot. I'd like to get Modano another Cup before he retires.

Flab and SouthPanolaDawg... you are both fine human beings... I thought I was the only hockey fan around here :) HUGE Stars fan here... not getting past the West semis since 2000 has been VERY frustrating... maybe this is the year...

I'm not really a Hockey fan, but I do cheer for the Stars when I get to see them. I think the league is doing some great things right now to promote their sport. Not to mention, watching Sidney Crosby is one of the most exciting things ever... and i don't know a dang thing about it.

I was fortunate enough to have season tickets for the '98-2001 seasons. The glory years... Fun stuff.

The Pens are my 2nd fav team. I always made sure to see them when I was going to Dallas games. Wish they'd have held on to Jags.

Maybe one of these days we can win a road playoff game.

They have to figure out how to win home playoff games first... What is it now? 3 playoff appearances and 2 of them against the Wings? That's just bad luck...

Yep. Probably my best memory was a playoff game against Colorado. I think it might have been game 6, not sure though. It ended with Colorado's potential game-tying goal clinking off the post in the final seconds. I think they were playing with an empty net at the time.

Anyway, Dallas fans had had enough of all week of hearing how great Patrick Roy was. During the game, an "Eddie's better...clap clap clap clap clap" cheer broke out. I swear every one of the 17,0001 fans in Reunion Arena got in on it. It was the loudest cheer I've ever heard from a crowd at a sports event. And Reunion Arena in general was the loudest damn place I've ever been in a sporting event. In the playoffs and certain other games, the person next to you couldn't hear you if you were screaming at them.

Glad to find other hockey fans. I don't get to watch much, especially the Stars since they're an out of market team here in MS, but I try when I can. I gotta agree with some others in this thread. Now is a good time to be an NHL fan or start becoming an NHL fan. The rule changes a few years ago to essentially mimic the Olympic rules was huge. It's put a premium on speed and made the games more fun with the quicker pace. Syd the Kid is amazing for the Pens. If he doesn't flame out, I'd be he has a chance to set several career NHL records before he hangs them up. Lots of other really fun players to watch right now as well. Hopefully one day I'll actually get to attend a game. Stars and Preds would be an ideal game. Nashville isn't that far from me, and I've got a friend living there who's starting to become a Preds fan, so it would be a good game to attend together and generate some spirited trash talk. But getting to a game in Dallas would be incredible, methinks.

I remember exactly which game you're talking about... it was Game 7 of the West finals in 2000... I didn't get to go to that game, but I remember the "Eddie's Better" chant... LOVED IT... The loudest I've ever heard a crowd in ANY arena get was when Darryl Sydor scored late in the third to put Game 5 of the 1999 Finals out of reach... Reunion shook that night...

We actually tried to lose our last game so we wouldn't have to face San Jose because they're so much bigger than we are. SJ dominated us last year in the playoffs and were arguably playing the best hockey at the end of the season. Instead, we get Detroit...so I guess it's pretty much pick your poison with either of those 2 teams. After what the Preds lost last season, I'm just glad they were able to even get here. Maybe we'll squeeze out the next game and try to make it a series. One can only hope.
