...swept at home by mighty Kansas City on the way to Boston. This should be fun.

The Cubs are struggling, too, but I bet they don't get swept. Albert's injury is starting to sink in. Cardinals score a grand total of 4 runs in the series.

and the Cardinals are struggling minus albert. They better hope they can just pull one out in Boston.

They are leaving on a 9 game road trip tonight through Boston, Detroit, and KC. Everyone knows what Boston does at home but now the Tigers are catching fire. Whats worse is now that we go to the DH league, we cant take advantage of it. Our pitchers are normally the 5th or 6th best bat in our lineup. I dont know if its within the rules but I had just as soon let Looper and a couple of our other pitchers bat and DH Brenden Ryan for Adam Kennedy at 2nd. Kennedys glove has been solid but he is awful at the plate.

And Ankiel hit a homer today but he is reeling at the plate. Hitting about .200 since early May. Rasmus struggled for 2 months at Memphis but is tearing the cover off the ball now. Hitting over .350 in June with an OPS over 1.100. IF Ankiel hasnt learned to lay off the offspeed away or at least try to go the other way with it dont be suprised if there isnt preassure to bring Rasmus up.

And our relievers cant get anybody out . All three starters left the game with the score tied or with the lead in late innings and all three where blown.

that some of these pitchers can get healthy and contribute by July and I'm keeping my fingers corssed that July isn't too late.

A rotation of Carpenter, Wainwright, Mulder, Looper, and Piniero would be nice, and maybe move Wellenmeyer to closer. At least two of those guys- Carpenter and Mulder- still won't be 100% until next year in all likelihood.

I've never seen a team with players that drop like flies like the Cardinals. I guess they need to hermetically seal everyone in a mayonaisse jar and just go with it.

...has Mulder progressing very well, Clement ok, and Carpenter shut down. Now there will be no Carp until after the ASB. The arms aren't the biggest concern right now. Ludwick and Ankiel have both cooled way off. There's just no offense. This road trip could be absolutely devastating for the season.

Carpenter back before the All-Star break anyway, but I figured sometime in July because of when he had the surgery. I'm encouraged my Mulder and Clement- cautiously.

Pujols should be back soon, and Molina- who is a VERY important player, especially when his replacement is Jason LaRue, will probably be back tommorrow or Sat.

Even if everyone is healthy, I still think that the Cardinals need a better middle infielder offensively to give the lineup a little more teeth. I can't think of one that would be available at the trade deadline, though.

favorite team next to the Cardinals. Their pitching staff is going to be pretty good- especially if they can lock up Hochever, Bannister, and Davies. Grienike and Meche are both pretty good as well.

Then they have Gordon, DeJesus, Butler, Teahen, Olivo, Gathright, Buck, and Tony Pena, Jr. who all have pretty good potential. They probably need someone like a Greg Maddux to come in and a couple of other veterans to help out.

I like Hillman as well.

6 first inning runs and only going 3+ innings. Meanwhile NIck Stavinoha keeps raking at memphis .346 average with 10 homers and 50 rbi. At some point we are going to have quit giving AB's to Duncan. I was a big fan of the guy. Plenty of pop, defense wasnt great but he hustled on every play. Now he is lost. I know they brought him back out of neccesity to play 1B but they need to send him back and NOT bring him back to he is cranking again. He was hitting .160 down there when they brougth him back this time.

I thought that maybe he had turned a corner after pitching five shutout innings, but this doesn't surprise me at all. Why don't they just release the guy and spare everyone?

Mulder for Haren has turned out to be one of the worst trades in baseball history. Reminds me alot of Doyle Alexander for a player to be named later, which that player to be named later was named John Smoltz.

Dave Duncan begged LaRussa not to trade Haren, but Tony wanted to get another Left Hander. Both have said that argument was the biggest disaggreement they have had in their 20+ years working together.
