and let him escape that Rose Bowl shadow. He's one of the best recruiting gurus around. BDJ needs to pick him up. If they did, I'd sign up.

Isn't he basically a guy that is allowed to talk to high school kids?

You tell people what they want to hear for 11 months out of the year, and then come signing day you say stuff like, "Not sure what made him change his mind" or "That is what happens when you deal with 18 year old kids".

Bottom line is that Robertson paycheck is determined by how many people sign up for Genespage, and I don't blame him one bit for making it sound like most kids are coming to MSU and I don't blame Yancy for doing the same thing. These are not unbiased reporters, they get paid to sell recruiting to their fans. If you don't think yancy, gene, steve all don't try and recruit for their respective schools, you are crazy. They should be doing that, and if I was coaching at an SEC school, I would be using the web sites every way I could.

People like recruiting becasue it is impossible to quantify results, except for W-L loss records, and signing day is no time to discuss W-L records.

I used to follow recruiting closely like yourself, but it gets to a point where you realize that it really doesn't matter. Chris Strong was all everything in South Panola, and he will end up pumping gas in Batesville. Jamon Hughes was a stud MLB that will now have to stay out of trouble in Memphis. MSU won 8 games with Carroll at QB, but couldn't win more than 3 with Omarr Conner and Norwood in the backfield. Ole Miss is likely to have three first day draft picks next year, and I still don't know if we will win 6 games.

you're telling me what I should and should not like? My opinions and interests aren't subject to your approval *******.

Stop trying to rationalize Yancy's ineptness. He and Robertson aren't even close to the same type of reporter. I can understand why you're pissed about recruiting. I enjoy following it, regardless of who we get. So the 17 what?

I like recruiting because it's fun to halfway keep up with who might be the next whoever at MSU.

Oh yeah, eat a dick.

I think he posts this type of reply no matter what the point of the post, if it in anyway mentions recruiting.

Give him a day, he will change his opinion.

I don't think Robertson ever said we had a real shot at Richardson, just that he showed us some interest. I never expected him to come to State. His neck is out there on Montrell Conner, he has all the sheep hyped up on him.

All I said is that Robertson gets paid to tell people what they want to hear. When i was still following recruiting closely, Im pretty sure it was 2006 or 2005 when Robertson said MSU was going to land a bunch of MS kids, Johns, Talbert, some WR that went to Louisville, and there were others that MSU missed on.

I think its laughable to put stock in what guys who's paycheck is determined by how many buy what they are selling. That is the point. What do you think sells more, "We are kicking *** in recruiting, Atlanta here we come" or "Who knows who we are going to sign, lets just hope we get a couple of solid athletes."

It is his job to get people excited about Montrell Conner, people get excited, people pay to hear it. Same way it will be Yancy's job to say what a great job Nutt did this year, when MSU does well in state, the same way it was Steve's job to say MSU got who they wanted in 2006, and who cares if they missed out on a couple of key recruits.

Robertson is about as level-headed as they come. Look, I've got nothing for or against him personally. But it does seem that he's more well known and respected than all the other goons. He's still hyping Chris Garrett, much to the dismay of many sheep.

You can compare Yancy to Gene, they are in the same boat, but not Robertson.

by stalking high school kids and then putting their opinions of the players on the Internet. I'm sure it usually starts out tame- loosely following the Dandy Dozen, some of the local kids- how much of Gene's old stuff in his skuttle-butt were about kids from New Hope?- and South Panola are usually pretty good places to start. I think it festers until your website has a full fledged database, or more likely you hook up with Scout, Rivals, or ESPN.

well on the Jimmy Johns year- most people though he was coming to State, not just Robertson. As I recall the story, Talbert told Croom the night before signing day he was signing with MSU and then got up and signed with Bama. But he was never a "hyped" guy - he always projected as hopefully a solid player.

The WR that went to Louisville did have us in his final 3, but it was known the his HS coach and coach Brohm were close somehow.

To be fair to Steve he's usually pretty honest about who we're competing against and our shots with him. I can't recall him really hyping too many guys that ended up at other places. He understands like most of us that it's an uphill battle in recruiting when you're fighting LSU, Auburn, Bama, TN for MS kids.

...is you getting all defensive when somebody posts their opinion. You attack every Ole Miss poster and about half of the State folks. It's getting ridiculous. Nobody enjoys reading the pointless pissing matches that you constantly start.

That's because on the first Wednesday of February, Garrett is not still going to have an offer from LSU.

The question is, will Croom take him back?

I still can't believe LSU offered him to begin with.....

He had you sold on Wadley & Lawrence to MSU last year, even though you will never admit it. He also had you convinced that Atterberry & PPL were a locks at one time.

Everyone thought Wadley was coming to State, not because of Rosebowl, but because of family and it seemed logical. What, I can't speculate about where recruits may go? Is that it? Yeah, I get my information from interviews with recruits. Geez, so what?

You are wrong about Lawrence.

****, Atterbury was committed at one time, and PPL almost did. Give the guy a break.
