Isn't he basically a guy that is allowed to talk to high school kids?
You tell people what they want to hear for 11 months out of the year, and then come signing day you say stuff like, "Not sure what made him change his mind" or "That is what happens when you deal with 18 year old kids".
Bottom line is that Robertson paycheck is determined by how many people sign up for Genespage, and I don't blame him one bit for making it sound like most kids are coming to MSU and I don't blame Yancy for doing the same thing. These are not unbiased reporters, they get paid to sell recruiting to their fans. If you don't think yancy, gene, steve all don't try and recruit for their respective schools, you are crazy. They should be doing that, and if I was coaching at an SEC school, I would be using the web sites every way I could.
People like recruiting becasue it is impossible to quantify results, except for W-L loss records, and signing day is no time to discuss W-L records.
I used to follow recruiting closely like yourself, but it gets to a point where you realize that it really doesn't matter. Chris Strong was all everything in South Panola, and he will end up pumping gas in Batesville. Jamon Hughes was a stud MLB that will now have to stay out of trouble in Memphis. MSU won 8 games with Carroll at QB, but couldn't win more than 3 with Omarr Conner and Norwood in the backfield. Ole Miss is likely to have three first day draft picks next year, and I still don't know if we will win 6 games.
