Nice play by JT Gray in the Saints-Rams game.

Rams up by 16 with 4 minutes to play….Gray blocks Rams punt deep in their territory, and Saints get a TD in one play afterwards and 2-pt after to get within a score.

Probably won’t matter in the final outcome, but great play to get his team back in the game. Great to hear his name called and see him still at it on the big stage.

Since he entered the league in 2019, he has the most solo special teams tackles (54) in the NFL over that span. Good for him, and it’s nice that the Saints punt so often. 5 years in the NFL is a nice career.

I'm amazed he's had such a successful career. He's been All-Pro twice, a Pro Bowl starter, and is heading for a 3rd All-Pro and 2nd Pro Bowl.

The fact that the team named him one of the captains tells you everything you need to know about the respect the players have for him in that locker room.

Anything beyond 4 years is outstanding….just 4 years locks you in to the lifetime pension. You can literally do just whatever you want for the rest of your days (within reason) in the public or private sector when the playing days are done with that cushion.

ETA: Gray already has over $10 million in career earnings with several good years left. He’s also got a role that doesn’t have him on the field except for 8-10 plays per game, so his body doesn’t get the wear and tear that the offensive / defensive starters do. It’s about the best possible NFL gig you can get when you consider the whole life implications, outside of probably a starting QB.
