This is for all of those that say "there's no way a QB is making $2M in NIL". How much do you think rent in a penthouse overlooking LA costs? How about a brand new $160K Porche Taycan?

For one, you're talking about the presumptive #1 pick in the draft. His NIL money is surely an outlier (though nobody knows anything about anyone's NIL money). No idea if he's paying for the penthouse or if he's just allowed to live there, rent-free. Big difference. Does he own the car or is it a free lease? Values vary considerably based on these factors.

Definitely an outlier. Not just the #1 pick - but a Heisman winner. Most Heisman winners will make this type of cash the year after their win. In this case, it could just be real NIL money by companies that want to use him in advertising.

When those $$ figures are thrown around, it includes perks...like free rent and free leases. That's a part of the package. They're not getting direct deposits of $2M. Unfortunately for these guys, uncle sam doesn't give NIL deals. I hope he's received enough cash $$ to sit aside for taxes on these fringe benefits.

It's definitely the high end. But there were folks on here saying there's no way anybody is getting that money in college.

Problem is it's presented as the norm when it's an extreme outlier.

I'd love to know how much Dr. Pepper paid him this year. He was in seemingly every other ad for them.

I've seen him in some commercials. Those would be national commercials. They could account for this.

There's so much about NIL that's shrouded in secrecy. Schools and collectives will obviously never disclose what they're paying. Recruits will never disclose the numbers. Even under anonymity, recruits won't say. I just read an article in the Athletic were recruits were responding anonymously to various questions about the recruiting process. One of the questions had to do with NIL. The recruits were detailing what they had been offered by other schools with whom they did not end up signing, sometimes saying they settled for less to go elsewhere. But even then, they won't say the school name.

There's a reason nobody involved will give hard numbers or identify the schools involved.

I can't wait for the first federal investigation into embezzlement or laundering through a collective.
