Right. Which is why companies and other organizations are paying players - not schools. Proving a school is coordinating payments via a company or charity is not something the NCAA is looking to do. I mean - they didn’t do it before when payments were illegal; why waste money and resources now?
I think most everyone (except for some in the media) know it is NOT the school. The companies pay the player directly for their service. The policy prohibits pay for attendance or play or performance.
The solution is to let any school or group of schools to file a complaint to the NCAA, and even if they need to fund the investigation of the offending school. The key is that a school could be found in violation and be given the SMU penalty. Nothing like peer pressure. Not all schools are following these guidelines, but some are. I would like to see Ole Miss and Clemson attack Texas for example. The fact Texas created staff to facilitate the connection between NIL $$$ funders and the individuals would seem to be a violation of the policy. The spring NCAA meeting has this on the agenda, so will be interesting.
