So I Googled PSU NIL and got these results:

https://wearenilcollective.com/

https://gopsusports.com/news/2023/1...th-inflcr-and-accelerate-sports-ventures.aspx

https://pennstate.nil.store/

https://www.si.com/college/pennstat...ball-success-with-honor-nil-collective-update

I would not feel comfortable donating money to any of them just from the info on the web sites. Maybe PSU but I am still not sure. Can we give money directly to the Athletes? As a fan this entire NIL thing is confusing but I would like to support the athletes without worrying about some group of greedy schmoes taking a piece of the pie.

You can give money directly to athletes, but you would have to receive something in the NIL-sphere in return. This could be something as simple as a signed jersey or photo, or the player could appear in some sort of advertisement for your business. Wouldn't encourage it. Paperwork to protect you and the athlete could become complicated.

Do NOT give to Success With Honor. They are responsible for this mess that we're in by actively sabotaging NIL fundraising for basketball.

but if you go direct, the player cant use any PSU logo things, unis, warm ups etc. They are owned by PSU, so if you want to use them, PSU wants their cut.

well at Marshall they made it very clear. We own the uniform etc so if you want to go to someone directly, you can, but they can not be seen in a Marshall Uniform etc without Marshall getting a cut, so you are better off going thru us (Marshall). If you want them in an ad say, they better be in street clothes, if you have gone directly. I would assume everyone would have that rule, as the school owns the school logo, and why give that away.

$900 raised for basketball during the ENTIRE season until the run-in to the postseason. NINE HUNDRED. Absolutely pathetic.

When Shrews was on a call to appeal for donations, Lubrano interrupted and bloviated about the need to share among all sports, instead of focusing on basketball for that call, which torpedoed Shrews' efforts.

$900! Really?

At my old job Our snack budget for coffee and donuts in the break room was twice that.

There is also the Lions Legacy Club which is football exclusive I believe and was co-founded by Mike Mauti:

https://www.lionslegacyclub.com/about-us

They have a membership model for fans (monthly at different levels) that give you some opportunities to meet and interact with players they work with and other benefits. They also accept donations. I don't know which collectives are responsible for some of the deals we know about (the Teslas, DDS and his deal with a car dealership) but would be worth knowing which ones are also involved in recruiting.

I may be dense or not fully understanding, but how does Success with Honors poor basketball fundraising “undermine” our basketball program? If there’s a better NiL out there, why does it matter that one isn’t doing well? I’m so f*ckin lost in this new world

Why didn’t basketball supporters donate?

It doesn’t undermine the program, but in this day and age scape goats are needed so it is blame SWH time. If basketball supporters were so worried about NIL they could have started a basketball collective. But they didn’t.

Because no one knew that they ******* existed. Message board posters had to independently raise $50,000 in a week, but SwH and other NIL collectives should've been working to solicit and encourage high-dollar donations from the start.

But now, knowing what we know about SwH's leadership, moribund business practices and disdain for basketball, no one has any interest in associating with them.

So if SWH is not into basketball are basketball people going to open a basketball collective? Mauti saw a need for a football specific collective and that collective is doing some really good things for the program. It looks like focused fund raising is the way to go.
