I just listened to the great interview with Charlie done by Hadad and he had an interesting tidbit that I thought was fascinating:
Which would you prefer?
A consistent 8-9 win team that challenges for an SEC west every 5 years meaning possible playoff. But you cannot attend a game.
Vs a consistent 6-7 win team that goes to bowl games never really challenges for SEC West but has the occasional 8-9 win season and you can go to games.
Different option for selecting
Or if we get relegated:
A consistent 6-7 win team typically going to bowl games and you cannot to games.
Or a 4-5 win team that occasionally goes to bowl games but you can attend games.
The reason I’m asking this is because Charlie made the comment that people who refused to give to NIL sited their concerns with they don’t get a seat selection benefit. He made the excellent point that a seat selection benefit in 2014 was worth a hell of a lot more than that same seat in 2004. Why? Because our talent was appreciatively better in 2014.
