this link suggests his NIL value to a business that is getting value from his endorsements. He has major national brand value. How can a HS kid that most people have never heard of get similar numbers to this and from a business that is not close to State Farm who can leverage nationally?

The article says Rogers “makes” $2-3 million per his contract with State Farm. Articles say Ewers’s contract is “worth” $1.4 million over 3 years for making appearances and signing autographs. I didn‘t see an article that said Evers will “make” $1.4 million.

I agree. When marketing firms see the most popular QB in football today, Aaron Rogers, negotiating a $2 million contract from State Farm what the heck is a kid out of HS going to get paid? I think the NIL will benefit a very very popular college athlete in his senior, maybe junior year. He or she will need several years of television exposure before companies will buy in and part with their money.

This is only a guess on my part but I think the NIL program is a stepping stone for other forms of compensation. That’s the long term plan.

I suspect a lot of these "large" NIL deals require athletes to sign away future earnings, and have very hard to reach targets.

I fear young kids getting major money will have no idea how to spend it properly and I bet we hear horror stories about extravagant wasteful spending like ESPN series Broke on young basketball stars going bankrupt at young ages. It is VERY easy to spend lots of money quickly and scams are out there too.

Take much of what is reported about NIL deals with a grain of salt. My sense is that a lot of it is exaggerated or simply made up.
