Veazey gets in a subtle dig at Polk's stubborness for not playing 2:

As tonight's extra-inning affair moved forward, word came that Ole Miss debated (and maybe decided, though its news release doesn't confirm it) to play a doubleheader tomorrow in order to ensure it would play all three of its games against Arkansas with rain in the forecast for Sunday.

It begged the question of whether the Bulldogs would do the same, a question that got its answer even before reporters were able to interview MSU coach Ron Polk following tonight's 4-3 MSU win in 12 innings over Tennessee. Event management coordinator Jay Logan approached Polk with the idea, but the veteran coach quickly shot it down, citing a shallow bullpen that had to work even more in tonight's extra-inning affair.

So State - which needs every chance to get a win that it can get in terms of qualifying for Hoover - will continue with its 2 p.m. scheduled start for Saturday's game and 1:30 p.m. scheduled start for Sunday. The tarp is covering Dudy Noble Field as I type this, and the weather.com forecast has rain chances coming in tonight - but increasing to 80 percent for Sunday.
