No one to blame but ourselves

My initial reaction was to be mad and then disappointed. But we absolutely have nobody to blame ourselves for losing that game. We had chance after chance after chance to win the game but just made way too many mistakes and always at critical times it seemed.

I honestly cannot recall when I have seen a team have three ineligible receiver penalties in one game. Kennard’s penalty will go down as one of the all-time stupid penalties in Gamecock history.

We just couldn’t get out of our own way. I guess the upside is LSU really didn’t look any better than us. The downside is we lost an enormous game that we had every right to win.

I guess I’m glad we didn’t get embarrassed on the scoreboard, but it is so very deflating to have the game sitting there, begging us to win it, and us basically refusing.

Oh we made plenty of mistakes so did LSU.

But REFEREES are to blame. Other fans not even involved w USC or LSU on social media are saying it also. It was criminal what they did to us. I suspect an official today has a gambling problem and had LSU -7

Nah, that narrative won’t work. The refs definitely missed some calls both ways for sure, but even so we had definite unforced errors on our part that cost us points and ultimately cost us the game.

Kennard’s penalty alone essentially cost us the game.

Same reactions here, mad and disappointed, because it was our game for the taking
But I saw a Gamecock team play some inspired football today which is encouraging.
Definite improvement in the running game and the defense is for real.
Stupid mistakes killed us but are correctable with proper coaching.
Officials were too much of a factor in the game and I'm not sure how that get corrected going forward.
Don't think we will be a pushover for any team on the schedule IF Seller's injury is not serious.

There were also some in-game adjustments. Our defensive line was causing them problems early on, but they adjusted to that in the second quarter and aside from a few plays it didn’t really impact the game much from that point on like it did in the early going.

My issue with the Kennard penalty is the QB was moving toward the play...he only shoved him and the QB did a great flip. Ultimately my opinion doesn't matter but that was a tough call.

Man Id agree 99% of the time and you are right, blaming refs is almost never the right reaction. But ****. Fans across the country are saying how we got robbed.

Whoever threw it should be named and shamed, and barred from SEC games in the future . Hes either corrupt or incompetent

We played well until Sellets got hurt. Still not sure why you can’t block the QB after he throws a pic, we had the game won. I still us getting enough wins, 6, to get to a bowl game. I didn’t think that preseason. Expecting us to do more after Sellers went down is not realistic. If he can’t go, we are in trouble, but yes, prepare Ashford to do more. That’s a big ask. Defense played well most of the game, even after the LSU corrections. They can’t do it all. Sellers getting hurt killed us, as it would any team

Another up side imo is we can clean this mess up and should have the tools to be competitive... something I wasn't so sure of before this game but am now.

The referees were certainly much too big of a factor in this game. I agree on that. I guess my issue is that even with the bad calls, the game was still sitting there for us to win and we just made mistakes.

True. LSU is a good team, they had a lot to do w our mistakes. I fully credit them for their play, but they did not beat us. The official w a gambling problem did

LSU really isn't that good this year. At least not compared to most LSU teams most years. Their run game is anemic and their qb is average. Their D is middling outside of the DL with small dbs. They have more talent than we do but they are a long ways from being elite.

We had way too many penalties in general. That tells me our team lacks discipline. The officials did not beat us, we let LSU come back and score 36 points in 2 quarters and 12 minutes of the second quarter.

Can’t stress enough not having Sellers available for the 2nd half impacted the game greatly. We still could have won it without him, and almost did. Who wins when their starting QB goes down against a top 20 team? Can’t blame this one on coaching.

Agree that hurt us but if he continues to take15-20 hits a game he is not gonna survive the season

Well, the play calling went too conservative with Ashford after that LSU fumble. We were playing for a FG from the get-go on that drive.

Haha.. get a grip… they protect QBs and the hit was unnecessary and excessive….
Yeah, I can understand the consternation over why it was flagged at all, but it was totally unnecessary to hit the quarterback. The ball was long out of his hand, the interception was complete, and he was a total non-factor on the play. You could tell he knew he had done something wrong because he instantly threw his hands up after he hit the quarterback.

So reverse the jerseys; same call? reverse the jerseys, same call in baton rogue?

baloney.

The officials decided the outcome of the game. I would hope not intentionally, but it certainly looked that way.

That is because they do not trust him passing. They ran what they could
It is disconcerting to me that we have a backup QB (with SEC playing experience) who the coaching staff does not trust to throw a pass. Whether their lack of trust is warranted or not, I don't know, but what's the point of having a 2nd string QB you won't let throw passes until desperation time?
