Info is in this month's Penn Stater (Jan/Feb 2025), page 60. I'll summarize below.

The Penn Stater this month DID have a one page ad about nominating and voting for the BOT. Needless to say, the page kinda "buried the lede". They noted a "Skill Set Inventory Report" to "ensure a diverse range of knowledge and professional expertise among board members" and that "Candidates who receive 50 nominations, submit all required documents, and are qualified will have their names placed on the election ballot". Of course, the sticking point is who decides who is qualified--and what the required documents are.

Nomination info will be sent out on Tuesday, January 21 and due back by February 4.

If you don't get one (check sp*m and junk mail folders), contact YesElections at [email protected] or call (855) 820-7021.

I'd give you my name to nominate me, but I'm sure that I'd be rejected for a lack of diversity since Ali Krieger has already covered the "Much too busy, don't plan on putting in any effort, and am just doing this for a line item on my resume" demographic.

I don’t think I support anyone that the powers that be deem qualified

I always wonder why some a-holes have to jump in to revalidate their a-hole credentials.

So, the idea of BOT democracy is to have the peons, aka, alumni, feel empowered by nominating who we think are qualified, then a select committee of the BOT will vetted and veto any candidate who does not "fit" the new standards and policy that were passed by the Board. Thus, you get to vote for candidates that you didn't nominate and does not reflect your interests or desires for what the BOT should be. Didn't this system of governance die out in 1991 when the USSR collapsed under its own corruption and sell-interests?????

Spot on... they want former sports players that people recognize the names yet do nothing other than list it on their resume that they were on the PSU BOT. Don't attend meetings, don't speak up and challenge ideas just be a face sitting there nodding their head yes to anything the heads of the BOT want....
