Accidental death & dismemberment insurance....

Do you have to die by an accident to collect? What if you get cancer 2 years from now and die? Not an accident, so does it pay?

Generally, AD&D insurance is a rider on a basic life or health insurance policy. It's name states exactly what it covers; accidental death and dismemberment insurance, but there are limitations of the coverage. These limitations may be a deciding factor for many on whether or not to add it to their existing life or health insurance policy.

Often times AD&D is an additional coverage on top of regular life insurance. It increases the benefit if you accidentally die or lose a limb. Usually you have to have regular insurance first, so you would still get the regular life insurance. My company commonly refers to our life insurance plan as an AD&D plan even though it is a life insurance plan with AD&D coverage.

For example; if you have a 100/200 AD&D.

Die from cancer, you get $100K

Die in car wreck, you get $200K.</p>

my wife saw it was available, she had me add it to my policy. She said when I croak she's sticking my dead *** in the truck and running me off a bridge.

is the fact that your family needs a certain amount of money if you die, whether you die of accident or sickness. Buy the proper amount of coverage for the protection of your family, partner, debtors, etc and make sure it pays regardless of cause of death.
