I wonder why they didn’t move basketball also ? Travel expenses ? MAC football is always pretty good, their basketball is also.

The MW has UC Davis and Grand Canyon coming in.

This is just a guess on my part but maybe Northern Illinois to the MVC?

Crazy. The Mountain West is effectively back to being a full conference months after the Pac-12 poached its upper half and the Pac-12 still hasn’t added its 8th football member.

Dekalb, IL, capital of the great Mountain West. What in the literal 17 are we doing.

But hey maybe that explains those mountains in the background in the Fugitive right before the bus wrecks. Always wondered there in IL those were.

Same for the mountains in Christmas Vacation. Clark must have drove out to Dekalb to get his tree.

The MAC and MVC are normally both one bid, one and dones. The MVC actually has the most recent multi-bid postseason (2021), 3 or 4 multi-bid seasons over the past 10 years, and a MUCH better NCAA tournament record over the past 10 years. The MAC doesn’t have a single multi-bid postseason over the past 10 years and has won about 3 NCAA Tournament games total. In men’s basketball, MVC>MAC.

Plus, Missouri State is leaving the Valley for CUSA.

Northern Illinois can move their sports in place and the conference will be back to 12 teams.

NIU left the MAC after the 1985 season and played as an independent from 1986-1992, before joining the Big West from 1993-95. They went independent again in 1996, then rejoined the MAC in 1997. What's old is new again?
