The missus and I were having this discussion the other day while watching the Olympics. We are not gymnasts - never have even tried it and would seperate every joint if I did try - and I only watch it in the Olympics, if at all.

But the gist of our discussion was this, "Why/when did men's gymnastics get branded as 'feminine'?" I mean, you watch it and its some tough *** physically demanding stuff. Much more demanding than baseball or basketball - which are considered 'manly'... My wife ran track and cross-country in college and went to a school with a men's gymnastics team and she said they were easily some of the best athletes on campus - and most dated very hot girls.

Just something that crossed my mind - and can't really figure out. Would love to hear some other thoughts - if it can be kept on this side of intellectual. I know that's sometimes asking a lot here.

have yall noticed which events china has won about half its medals in? The GAYEST sports in the olympics... **** like archery, shooting, and sychronized diving (which was actually kind of entertaining to watch on the high difficulty dives, but definitely still gay)

the guys that do that stuff are often times into cheerleading, and then have the floor dance, not to mention the high pitched munchkin sounding "that's how we roll" after they won the bronze can kind of give people the wrong impression.

Not that there's anything wrong with all that. I will give them their due, they stuff they do is amazing.

By the way, just kidding about the gymnastics. I watched it, and I was pulling for the lil' fellas, too...

but i dont consider them as "athletes"... it is a skill but not a sport. if shooting and archery are sports, then shouldn't fishing be somewhere in the mix? just sayin'... blast away
